The Tech Talk forum at DV is for discussing topics relating to computers or technology.
Examples include programming, software or hardware technical support, cell phones, MP3 players, televisions, etc.

Posting Guidelines

Technical Support:

Threads seeking technical support are included under this forum. These threads should be posted and replied to seriously. Please consider that the person is asking for help and will likely do what is requested of them to come to a solution.

• Not all members are tech experts, and that's likely why they're posting here asking for help. Try to keep it in layman's terms and as simple as you can.

• Malicious/sarcastic replies will not be tolerated in these threads. These comments will be removed if a moderator or administrator deems it necessary, and consequences can be severe. This is a potentially bannable offence, so please don't respond in a way that could mess up someone else's property, whether you think they may understand it as a joke or not.

Saying, "Just delete your system32 folder", is an example of malicious advice and what you SHOULD NOT do -- regardless of how you intend it to come across, jokingly or otherwise, there will always be someone who may misinterpret that and end up doing something stupid. If a naive member searches for a solution to a problem and an answer comes up to delete a folder, they may very well do that, so these sort of replies are unacceptable in any tech support threads.

Warez/Copyright Infringement:

Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed.

If you are unsure about whether material you're going to post is protected by copyright, then contact a DV staff member before posting it.

These posting guidelines are in place to benefit DV and its members, please respect and follow them.
