Apparently, my phone makes Quicktime videos. So I emailed it to myself, and Sprint sent me a link to it. Well, I fund the file in my cache. It has no extention, but Linux recognizes it as a Quicktime movie. So, I went to Zamzar and tried to convert it to an mp3, but it yelled at me saying that it needs and extention. What is the extention? mpg or mpeg?
Oh, and can I embed the file into a post here if it's Quicktime and uploaded to my site?
Use ffmpeg to convert AV between formats
Code:sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
This will convert your file to an mp3 file (discarding any video, obviously)Code:ffmpeg -vn -i input_file outputfile.mp3
there's also a GUI front-end for ffmpeg, if you want
called WinFF

Wait, it didn't work. It gave an output file, but it's 0 MB.
There was an error at the end of the console, I'll try to find it.
you might not have the ffmpeg mp3 encoder
(not included by default due to licensing issues)

mov is a wrapper around any type of video / audio / image / keynote format
m4v is the iTunes extension for a standard H.264 encoded movie

there'll be a
libavcodec51 - this version is stripped, by Debian, of all non-free encoders
and a
libavcodec-unstripped-51 - this version includes all encoders
Installing one will also uninstall the other
