QUESTION during a WILD
Hey everyone a week ago I read about the different techniques on lucid dreaming and the WILD technique attracted to me so the noob I am tried it the first night so. I was in bed and my feet and neck then face started Vibrating rapidly then I saw an image of a neon windmill and slimy sounds coming from my window then I started. Thinking about my breathing then it stopped. My questions are
1. Was this the beginning of a WILD
2. Any techniques on keeping my mind relaxed and not thinking or random things
3. Tips on how to keep calm and not. So excited.
Well thanks everyone but I am going to bed happy dreaming :cloud:

It could've been, but if you get super distracted while things like 'neon windmill and slimy sounds from the window' are happening you might lose awareness (at least, I do). Like it states on the mainpage, often in dreams we get easily distracted by shiny(or scary!) stuff and forget we're dreaming in favor of being whisked away by the moment- I know I tend to turn into a little kid at christmas with ADD running around screaming with sparklers in hand. :P
Try to ground yourself and don't worry too much about it- noticing your breathing or your eyes just happens, don't move anything else, keep your eyes shut and keep going. Try to focus internally. I like to 'try to hear things that aren't there', imagine sounds, to distract me from the noise of breathing and such. As for relaxing, well... Maybe someone else has better advice, but I'd say, experience. The more regularly you do this, the less eyepopping it'll be, and it will become easier not to get 'kicked out' of the dream because you're excited. It sounds like you weren't in a full scene yet, but once you are, doing things like interacting with the environment and giving yourself sensory input can help 'ground' the dream. I.e, smell things, touch things, break stuff- some people like to rub their hands together, to keep your focus internal and the dream more solid.
Good luck! :)

Also if that ever happens be sure to do a RC just to be on the safe side.

That sounds like the beginning of a WILD. You need to be patient, and persevere through that wackiness. Sometimes, I will go through several cycles of vibrations and hallucinations before I can finally enter a dream. Just keep doing what you are doing, and hover in that half-asleep state until a dream hits you. There are all sorts of tricks that help you enter the dream once it is coming, but you can't rush it.
Much of this has to do with timing, also. If you try this in the beginning of the night, it is hard to make it past the point you described. After 4 or 5 hours of sleep, you have a much greater chance of nailing a vivid dream.
