Don't be scared, you've been having sleep paralysis ever since the day you were born. It's a natural biological defense system. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of, but if you can't help it, just try to fall asleep quickly and ignore it. I personally enjoy the sensation of becoming completely numb and feel like I'm floating in the air, but we all experience SP differently. Just don't be afraid, there's nothing to be afraid of. If anything, look at it as a good thing. Since you're getting used to it, you could try and turn that into a WILD and have pleasant lucid dreams.
Thx for reply...
allrighty, gotta go for Wild then, but for most cases I quit WILD because sometimes the SP part gets WAY too scary
(high pitch scream, eve someone throwing pen right into your eye!!)
Try to roll off when you have sp and act as you have a sword by your bed then slash those screaming bas....
Seriously when in SP try to roll out of bed and you may land in a dream or imagine your body floating.
I've had extremely scary SP incidents before, much scarier than you've typed up here. It doesn't stop me from trying to hit SP, because I know it's not real. Sure, that sounds like pretty useless advice right now, but as you stay in the SP longer and get it more often, you'll get used to it.
Eventually, instead of saying, "crap, I'm in sleep paralysis now", you'll might think something along the lines of "oh, this is sleep paralysis... Cool!"
It happens to everyone when they fall asleep, just that they're usually unconscious when it happens. Again, seemingly pointless advice, but remember that it's all in your mind. And it's your mind that's creating all the hallucinations and imagery, so in a way it's rather fascinating. I hit SP a few weeks back and felt someone rolling onto my bed and touching my back, but instead of freaking out because I started to get chills, I observed how realistic it felt.
If you find yourself in a truly undesirable SP episode right before falling asleep, change your breathing pattern. For instance, if you were breathing lightly when it hit, make your breathing deeper so your body will recognize that you're still awake. It's the same if you wake up into it.
Since you get SP so often, if it really starts to impact your sleeping, you might want to consider asking your doctor for medications. I can vouch for their effectiveness, I'm taking some right now for a different health issue and they fixed that issue as well as preventing me from reaching SP as often as I used to. :P
If you have one and want to get out of it all you need to do is relax and calm down as if nothing is happening it'll disappear almost immediately. When I had my first sleep paralysis a few months ago (i was taking a nap in the late evening fell asleep the second i closed my eyes), it was weird and scary to me. I'd swore i was awake but i wasn't, i wanted to wake up from it, i was lying on my back with my eyes closed and was calling my dad delirously, (i knew he was awake) then i saw my dad hanging over me to help me get out of it talking to me and felt him pulling my hand to sit upright but i just had no strength at all and apparently my dad neither lol , all was really vague and blurry and black and white kinda, and i was saying over and over 'i don't want this anymore'..i was trying move and open my eyes the whole time but i just couldn't and i was really trying! But then i just thought i should relax , think straight, and calm down, and my eyes opened and i woke up :P And noticed i wasn't lying on my back i just woke up the exact same position i fell asleep in lying on my chest watching to the right and even the light in my room was on and my door was half wide open. I asked my dad if he heard me calling him but he said no. It was all so real. But for the next time it happens i hope to be not freaked out and make it a fun experience :)
Wish I could do that... stayin cool
IMO your feeling of Sp is determined by what you think of it, if you fear it, it will be things like scary noises or unpleasant feelings, but if you think of it positively, it will be a pleasant, or neutral feeling, thats how I have it anyway.
