Is this a WILD?
Today, for the first time, I tried to WILD while napping. I kept counting my breaths on each inhale, and repeated the simple phrase, "I'm dreaming," during each exhale. My body became very relaxed and heavy. I must've got to around two-hundred-something, and this is where my memory became a little fuzzy. The next thing I remember is getting up, thinking to myself that I had failed and that I should probably just get out of bed.
So I walk downstairs, and lo and behold...I'm in the house that I grew up in, which my mom recently moved out of! In fact, every time I've become lucid, other than one instance, the setting has always been this house. I attempt to look closely at some details, like the woodgrain on a cabinet, rubbing my hands to stabilize. Unfortunately, I violated one of the most important rules of lucid dreaming: never think of your sleeping body. The dream immediately began to fade and a rushing sound filled my ears, and the next thing I knew, I was back in my bed. From there, I tried to DEILD, but found it impossible, as two dogs were barking back and forth somewhere in the neighborhood, providing too much sensory stimuli.
Anyway, I'd just like for a more experienced dreamer to confirm for me whether or not this sounds like a WILD. If it is, it would be my first!
Thanks,
Dom

Sounds like one to me. I could never WILD, but you seem to have succeeded. Good job!
And yeah, I know you asked for a more experienced dreamer, but hey, a free bump is a free bump at the least.

Thanks for the feedback, Clairvoyance. At 15 views and 0 responses, I'm just glad somebody finally posted in my thread.:cheeky:
Honestly though, it was such a surreal experience, I had to let somebody know about it. Keep at it, stay confident, and I'm sure you'll be WILDing soon, too.

Hey, since we're both here, I've had a question that I've been asking around. Mainly, I want to learn how long it takes for most people to get into a successful LD from WILD.
So, can you say how long it took you, on estimate, to reach your lucid dream from the moment you started your WILD attempt? Would be really glad to know!

Well, basically I laid down around 6:05 and started counting and repeating the mantra, got to around 250 breaths or so...and this is where my memory sort of lapsed. It didn't feel like I entered the dream directly, it felt like I was lying there for a while and sort of gave up. That's where I decided to get up and found that I was in the dream. From there it only seemed like I was in it for about 10-20 more seconds. When I awoke, it was 7:00. So if I had to estimate, I'd say I "fell asleep" somewhere around 6:30 at the latest.
That's why I was kind of confused as to whether or not this was a WILD, because there was a definite lapse in consciousness where I was either unaware of the dream or I didn't enter REM until the last moments of the nap.
Hope that helps.

So, you had a WILD and woke up in less than an hour. Interesting.
I'm considering on gathering more data from others to see how long it takes for an average person to successfully WILD. Sort of like research, if you will. I might even compile a list if I get enough people and information. I'm also very interested in what WILDers feel as they go through their attempt. I'm sure that this info will be very useful to more people than just me.
Thanks for sharing!

Kind of...
This was the beginning of a WILD, part of what some people call the "transition stage." In order to reach a lucid dream next time, all you have to do is realize you are in a dream, and perform a few tests, such as looking at the time, trying to read or write, or turning on and off the lights.

Well techincally from what I have read I dont think this was a WILD correct me if Im wrong but I believe for a WILD you have to maintain conscience throughout the whole thing and that incluids getting SP and going through some HI.

Well, he was conscious in the dream, it's just that he was tricked into believing that he was in the physical world by his dream. Although it isn't technically a WILD until you know that you are in a lucid dream, he was in a dream capable of becoming a fully lucid dream.
