Wow...Absolutely amazing experience

Hello everyone!

I just got done with a three hour nap, and I'd like to talk about some things and ask a few questions. So here it goes.

Note: This whole time I was listening to Theta Binaural Beats

At 5pm I drank some apple juice and proceeded to relax, repeat my mantras, and let the WILD process take place. I watched the back of my eyelids and relaxed until I got into the intro to SP, I tried to relax and let it carry out, but it faded away, at this time I was hot and uncomfortable so I shed some layers and changed positions. The theta beats made me extremely relaxed, but were too loud, so I turned them down at this point. I resumed my relaxation technique and waited for SP once again. But, I think about 10+ times I got into SP but faded out. But I finally got into SP, but it was minor, I could still move reasonably easy, but I was more than numb, so I don't know if this would be considered SP. But the amazing this is that once I got into this semi-SP stage, I could feel my eyes REMing. It was very strange. Yet quite interesting, but I could not transition into a LD. I would relax (being in SP/semi-SP) and try to watch the back of my eyelids to have a dream engulf me. It wouldn't work. I had a detailed image of the dream I've incubated, a beach, I can hear the waves, clouds blue skies, a cliff to the right, seaweed on the beach etc. But I couldn't have it engulf me, the back of my eyelids stayed black, (I was lying on my back so I could imagine looking at the sky) even though I was trying to make a blue sky with clouds, I kept going in and out of this semi-SP type thing, but never succeeded. So I switched positions and attempted this again. But this time I went into SP quite heavily, I was sure it was SP this time, I couldn't move at all, I could have if I wanted but I wanted to transition into a LD. As I was in this heavy sleep paralysis, my mind was a big jumple of HI and HH, but I kept trying to imagine my beach dreamscape and transition into it, it just wouldn't work. During this, like the other time, I could feel my eyes REMing aggressively. So I was frustrated I couldn't transition, I can't understand why I can't hahaha. I was in this heavy SP for one hour, with no success. But, I did some type of transition....kind of....It's hard to explain but I'll do my best. You know how when you try to imagine your dreamscape and you keep losing the details of how you want it to look and how you want yourself to play out in it (flying, sex, telekinesis, etc.), but you can't focus on it and you lose track of the thought and you start thinking of something else? Well this didn't happen, I know it wasn't a LD because if I tried to noseplug check it would be my waking arm attempting to move. So I hadn't transitioned completely into the dream. But I had an outline, it was blurry and I just watched what I wanted to play out, I kind of felt like I was in it a little bit, but I know it wasn't a real LD. I'm frustrated because I tried for one hour, while in heavy SP, to transition into a LD, but I just couldn't! I have no idea why, I have great confidence in myself because I know how to get SP going well now, but I just can't transition. Oh and one thing that is really frustrating is when I am going into SP, or trying to transition, my eyes try to force themselves open! It's something that if I prevent it, it makes me focus, and throws me off, and I can't relax because I'm worried about my eyes opening, so I think this is a pretty big problem, it interrupts SP stages because I open my eyes and I lose it! I followed the exact directions of every WILD tutorial I read. But I just didn't succeed. I'm pleased with my advancements in SP induction ease though. Hopefully you guys can help me out with some questions I have:

1) Why did I go into so many SP intros, but fade out of the vast majority of them so quickly even though I was relaxed and not focusing on it at all?

2) Why did I go into these semi-SP stages? What happened was I went into SP, but I didn't feel myself fade out, yet I could move reasonably easily.

3) Is it normal to feel your eyes REM while you're in SP or simply when trying to transition?

4) What in the flipping heck is the reason I can't transition from a heavy SP stage??? You can tell I spent a lot of time trying to transition, and I'm quite dedicated. Which is why I'm frustrated :P

5) Is it normal/okay to have been in a heavy SP for one hour?

6) Will you guys help me clarify the stages/steps of performing the WILD technique?
Is it, Relax, you go numb, SP, fall asleep, transition?
Relax, go numb, fall asleep, SP, transition?
Relax, go numb, SP, transition, fall asleep?
Or something I don't know about/something I'm missing?

7) Is there something I can do to prevent my eyes from trying to pry themselves open?
I don't understand why this happens, it's also quite frustrating

Well I think the main problem was because you attempted this at 5 PM. Assuming that you have a normal sleeping schedule and wake up around 6 - 9 AM Then your REM periods would have wore off by around 1 or 2 PM which is when you should have attempted this WILD.

That is probably why you didn't fully transition into a dream.

Yes It's normal for your eyes to move around and twitch when entering SP.

Also, Don't try to identify which stage of SP your in or any of that it will just keep you unfocused. Just make sure your doing this with a WBTB or in the Late morning or really early afternoon, and let your body do it's thing and try not to focus too much. You need to find a balance between concentration and letting your mind drift off. But not too much as you'll fall asleep.

If your finding it difficult to keep your eyes closed, then it is because they are not accustomed to the darkness yet. I would suggest sitting in a dark room for 5 -10 min until your eyes get comfortable and then attempt it.

Edit: Oh and I forgot, trying to visualize a dream scene might be a little too hard for someone doing a one of their first WILD's as it might keep your mind to occupied causing your body not to fully fall asleep. Try just letting your mind go blank, but keeping some awareness. and remember your just going to sleep but conscious while doing it. I can't even do a V-Wild yet.

Okay thank you, but I get out of school at 2:40pm, does this mean I can't WILD nap? :(

Well around 2:40 your REM will most likely wear off. I have school aswell and I usually just wake up after 6 hours of sleep at around 4:30 or 5 AM and try a WILD until 7 am. If I couldn't do one in the morning sometimes ill find a secluded place in my school library, put in ear plugs, and try to WILD. My Lunch break is an hour long and is around mid day so it's perfect time.

It was 5pm not your normal sleeping time so it was difficult. Try it just before going to bed, or in the morning, get up a bit early and WILD.

Its something that just happens to most, especially when beginning. And also it wasn't your normal sleep time this is no surprise. It will get better with practice.

That is where you go before full SP. Yes you can move reasonably easily. Most people don't feel their full SP, but go into LD, or just sleep before that, or wake up.

Okay, yeah its OK, Most people just lose interest (or fall asleep) in 10 or 15 mins. It wont harm you in any way. Just remember you are in SP for the full duration of your sleep every night. So yeah its normal and safe.

though Relax, go numb, LD is common and Relax, LD isn't unheard of.

Don't look at the back of them. focus somewhere else. The third eye is a good idea. Or focus downwards towards your nose/mouth. Or don't focus, just close your eyes as you do when sleeping normally.

If you look at the back of them, the eyes think that you are trying to look at something beyond your eyelids and attempt to open.

Okay, yeah its OK, Most people just lose interest (or fall asleep) in 10 or 15 mins. It wont harm you in any way. Just remember you are in SP for the full duration of your sleep every night. So yeah its normal and safe.

Okay so for number 6, by transition do you mean, Fall asleep?

What will happen when I fall asleep? Will I still be aware te whole time? And how will I know I fell asleep?

1) This happens sometimes. Most of the time for me, SP pulses in and out several times before it actually sinks in. It will be a fairly different experience every time though.

2) The SP was still setting in. Sometimes it takes a while to get going. Depending on where your thoughts lie. Once SP starts to set in, you just keep going with the process as if nothing strange is happening. Don't think about whether you are completely paralyzed or not. Just try not to really pay any attention to the onset of the SP...just stay relaxed and fall deeper and deeper into the process. Wait for the HI/HH, so you can use them as your anchor.

3) It is completely normal to feel your eyes going crazy. Just try to ignore it and stay relaxed. You will not notice them the deeper you get into SP. If you noticed them the whole time, then that could have contributed to you failing the transition. Don't focus on any actual body parts. This will keep you grounded to your actual body and cause problems for the transition. You have to ignore/forget about your actual body.

4) You didn't transition because you didn't allow yourself to fall asleep. It was most likely because you were working your mind too much (trying to incubate a dream scene). That is an advanced technique. I would suggest completing a few transitions and getting WILDs under your belt before you try to create a specific scene to transition to. You can always just find, teleport, or fly to the beach once you get into the dream. WILDing is a delicate process and you need that perfect balance between losing consciousness and keeping yourself awake.

5) When you are actually sleeping you are in SP for longer than an hour, so it is fine. I've never felt SP for that long, but its not going to hurt you to do it.

6) You get relaxed and generally go a little numb as you fall into a deeper relaxation. SP starts to set in and you get the mild hallucinations. SP sets completely in as the transition begins. Transition means the transition from waking life to the dream state. You are falling asleep during the transition. Towards the middle/end of the transition, you are in an unstable sleep.

7) You just have to ignore them. Literally, forget about your eyes while keeping relaxed and calm. Keep your eyes closed and work toward ignoring your eyes. Soon enough, you will have forgotten all about them and the problem will be solved. To do this, just turn attention toward HH/HI or the darkness if there is no HH/HI yet.

Okay, thanks, about #7, my eyes like....literally force themselves open, and I'll ignore them but then all of a sudden my eye will have cracked open! And it'll anger me...

For #7, I find that if I am tired, I don't open my eyes as much. I also find that if I stare at the back of my eye lids I tend to open up my eyes without wanting too.

As to #6 by transition I mean the point of HI/HH. Most people don't realize exactly when they fall asleep.

If that happens, just close it and act like it never happened. The key is to hold your eyes closed without really thinking about it. You have to be firm (not too firm), but relaxed at the same time. Like I said, if they open, it isn't the end of the world. Just close it and continue with the process.
