Are we there yet?
First time poster here,
the title basically describes my problem. I have tried the WILD technique on numerous occasions and yet I don't seem to get anywhere.
Today I took a short nap before trying a WBTB-WILD, I did get to some parts described on the forums, like my limbs being going numb. I even had moments of exhilaration (increased heart rate, feeling of adrenaline) as well as ringing in my ears.
I experienced the above sensations multiple times, after swallowing down some saliva that I felt was about to drown me.
How long does it usually take to get from numb limbs to hypnagogic images? And how do I know when I get there?
Sorry if this is a dumb topic/question/
PS: I have never had any sort of LD before.

The numbness and other things you described is the on-set of SP (sleep paralysis). You just need to stay relaxed and act as if nothing unusual is happening. Allow the process to "take you." Once SP completely sets in the more vivid hallucinations start. This is generally speaking, you may go through SP and not even have a whole lot of hallucinations. The hallucinations aren't the exact same every time out. Don't worry about how far along you are in the process. Just continue to fall into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation and allow the process to do the work for you. Don't forget that the whole point of a WILD is to fall asleep. If your mind is too focused/concentrated on any one thing, this can keep you from falling asleep. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!
