Trying a WILD technique.

Well, first of all, I didn't know whether to put this in the Newbie Zone since this is my first post and all, but looking at this topic section, it has more activity. I have had three lucid dreams in the past two months with no methods, besides asking myself if I am dreaming five times a day. Three dreams in two months isn't impressive, so I read up on a WILD technique. I just have some questions about it (some stupid questions, too).

To start off, I want some people's views and experiences with sleep paralysis. I am ready to undergo this if I successfully WILD that far, but I still have some doubts about it. I heard stories of pressure in the chest, voices, etc.

Another question: How do I stay conscious when just laying there? I read the dreamviews guide on WILDing, and it just says to sit there and stay conscious. This is the stupid question: How? Do I just focus on staying aware that I will stay conscious while my dream forms in front of me or something? Even then, how long does it take before your mind is tricked into forming a dream because your body is "asleep"?

If you bothered reading this far and came up with an intelligent response, thank you. Again, I am new, so don't yell at me or something. :l

Those aren't stupid questions; I (among many, many other people) asked the same thing when they first read up on the WILD technique! :P

The trick to WILD is not to stay fully conscious, but to stay along the line dividing consciousness and unconsciousness. For a better idea of what this means, have a look at Jeff's free-falling WILD guide if you haven't yet. It's that point where you're very close to falling unconscious but you still have an awareness of what's happening. You don't want to stay focused on your body at all, and instead let your thoughts wander - don't let them wander too far though, because if you do, that's what will make you fall asleep normally.

Depending on how tired you are and what time you try the WILD, it'll take roughly from 20 minutes to an hour. Usually for me, I attempt my WILDs during a nap (4 - 5 hours after waking up for the day) and get to SP within 30 minutes of deep relaxation and letting my mind wander.

What makes WILD that bit more difficult is just training yourself to keep your thoughts wandering, but to stop them from wandering too far without being too active in the matter. You'll get it though!

Alright, I read up that listening to "gamma binaural beats" is a good idea when using WILD techniques such as Jeff's there. Those beats supposedly increase perception and awareness, so should I listen to those while trying to free-fall?

From experience, I don't think you should use them because you'll stay too aware. Ruined one of my WILD attempts.

Alright, I'm trying Jeff's technique. I'm lying on my back, trying not to think of anything and let my mind wander. The only thing I felt so far was a twitch in my leg and my eye opening on it's own. Whenever I feel like I am getting into it, I think of something and lose it. I always think of something when I am trying not to and end up frustrated, which isn't good at all. Any tips?
