Just a really quick question.

I've been a member here for a while, but I stopped coming here a long time ago, don't know why, but I gave up on lucid dreams. Needless to say I've gotten more involved in it more than ever now. I'm actually surprised that I remembered my username and password, yet I glimpsed at what I had posted a long time ago and couldn't remember any of it, except for the dreams I mentioned.

Anyways, a technique I never tried was WILD, I was fascinated, and positive, that the way for me to go was with DILD. But that just never worked for me. Even now, I have a dream journal and I am positive of many different dream signs which keep appearing, like blondes (don't ask) and the color red (red lingerie, red cars, a red Bible, red clothes, just the color red keeps popping up) and for some reason, my work (Wal-Mart). Even in my dreams, when I'm in Wal-Mart, I'll actually stop myself and look around, and ask if I'm dreaming, but nothing happens.

Last night, and for the past couple of nights, I've been having weird experiences with where I'm awake and then I try to visualize my last dream, or just anything in particular. My body will be at complete relaxation, but my conscious mind is wide awake (even when I took a bunch of sleeping pills), but eventually I find myself asleep and in a dream. From what I've been reading, that's my problem, the fact that I fall asleep (probably from boredom haha) and then I dream.

I've read a lot of people saying that WILD and astral projection are basically the same, I'm not arguing the point, nor do I wish to start one here, but with astral projection, I understand the concept of your spirit coming out of your physical body to explore. So, my question, and sorry for the build-up, is when I'm relaxed physically, am I supposed to "roll out of my physical body" and be in a dream world?

Now that I'm back into a strong desire for lucid dreams, I've decided this time around to be more of a lurker/researcher/student as opposed to one who actively takes part of the forum. Last time, I'm not sure, but I think I just did a lot of randomness.

Other things that seem to be a problem for me is this, my dreams (where it is me that is in them) are never really fascinating, like no weird things are going on, like floating animals or anything like that. It's usually just basic, normal people, normal situations, etc. That is why I decided this time around to really go for the WILD technique.

If you are questioning if you are dreaming inside a dream, that means you are close to lucidity, even though you didn't exactly become lucid. Keep doing what your doing with the DJ, and also try SAT (sporadic awareness technique0 which you could find in this forum. WILD'ing is a different type of skill and takes much more patience then DILD. If that is what you are going for, I would reccomend you supplement it with wake back to bed. The thing about dreams not being fascinating could have to do with your own beliefs, do you find your life really boring most of the time? If so, it wouldn't be a surpise that you are dreaming about boring things. For the WILD, the trick is not to stay aware the whole time, but to let yourself slip into unconsciousness, and then in a moment, right before youfully lose it, become re awakened mentally and wait for the signs of SP to set on. For me, whenever I WILD, I always hear very loud vibrations and metallic sounds, and I always feel wierd feelings like I am floating in my bed and sometimes hearing others voices liek family members. Also, look into DEILD.

Glad you posted actually, I saw where you mentioned the SAT as well as I think ADA or something, but I couldn't find out, or figure out what it stood for. I don't like doing reality checks, they usually piss me off. As for the boring surroundings, the dreams aren't boring, hell the other night I was in a gunfight with the cops, leading like a revolution, telling everyone around me to die if needed, just be sure to take out some others with you before you go out. What I mean is that I don't see mythical creatures, or floating animals, or anything like that, everything that happens to me in my dreams is always very lifelike and are things that I have experienced or witnessed before. Not that I've been in a shootout, but I've shot plenty of weapons, and weapons are actually one of my dream signs, but never once in that particular dream did I try to figure out what I was doing.

My problem is that when I dream, I'm usually just thinking "where the hell did this come from?"

But my dreams are always, always lifelike. If I get punched in a dream, I feel it, if I get bit by a snake, I can feel the fangs (sometimes in real life it seems), if I shoot someone, I feel the recoil, etc. I just never remember to awaken, and even when I ask if I'm dreaming, nothing happens. I've even asked DCs before, and they told me I was, but nothing happened. This is why I'm leaning more towards WILD or VILD. But I'm going to look in to what you mentioned as well. Thanks.

Oh, and last night, after I woke up from my first dream (which occured after an hour of sleep) I pissed, wrote down the dream, and went back to my sleep position. While in that position, I noticed (and this is the first time that it had ever happened to me) that I started hearing voices, hearing loud pitched sounds, light came through my eyelids, but I didn't know what it was, so I rolled or tried to ignore it. I sleep on a couch, for some reason beds aren't comfortable to me, so it's not like I can just freely roll over or anything, it takes effort, so I try to stay in just one position, on my back.

That's when I tried to visualize the dream I had just had, because when I woke up, I realized all the times there were for me to become aware that I was dreaming. I began to see the dream, but then I started consciously thinking about how I wanted to change it, and it went away, which pissed me off and delayed sleep again. Are you saying that I could have been fairly close last night?

^ You were in SP from the sounds of it. The loud sounds are a dead giveaway.

I have been reading a lot on this forum, and in the DV Academy posts, I tried the chat room, but couldn't figure out how to go to the room where you can ask about lucid dreams, so I just left it, didn't want to feel like a stalker in the regular room by not participating.

But I have noticed this every time I sleep, or even when I close my eyes and imagine being inside one of the dreams I have had, or a dream that I would like to have, I lose the ability to hear and see outside reality. I sleep with a sound machine, always set to rain or a waterfall, and there will be times where I won't consciously be able to hear it, but I will hear what I am imagining. I have always had this weird ability to be able to recreate voices in my head of people I have heard talk, and manipulate their voices as well. And the other sense that I easily imagine with is touch and sometimes taste.

Would this be a form of transitioning into a dream, even if I'm not really that close to sleep?

Like cmind just said, I think if you had stayed calm and not tried to immediately go for changing the dream scene, you could have very possibly had your first WILD. Next time that happens, don't focus on anything, don't focus on the noises you hear, don't focus on the things you see and just remain passively aware, and you will soon find yourself in a lucid dream...you have WILD'ed! Don't try to change things so early on into your experience, first let the dream come on and stabilize it, then once you are standing up, perform a RC like pinch your nose and breathe, believing that it will work and if you succeed, it will work. Try doing exactly what you did last night and post back in this thread, let us know how it goes.

Sweet, I'll try it out and see what happens. Thanks again for all the help, I know there are many, many different ways to go about doing this, and I plan on trying them all. What is ADA by the way? I've seen it pop up a couple of times.

ADA is all day awareness which is when throughout the day you constantly stay aware of your surroundings, every step you take, every feeling you feel, the weight of your clothes, the sound of your breathing, You essentially become aware of all the things which you subconsciously ignore on a daily basis and at the same time, question the probability that you are dreaming and look for evidence as to why or why not you are. Theres a couple tutorials on it, but I personally do not do this because I just don't remember to do ADA all day, rather I use a variation of this technique which theres another tutorial for which was written by Puffin I think, its like ADA but you do it at random points of the day. Whenever you remember to or whenever something strange happens and especially when something that seems dreamlike happens, you immediately become aware of everything, question whether you are dreaming and look around your surroundings, trying to remember how you got where you are and why you are there at that given point. As you keep doing this, it will pass on into your dreams and you will start questioning and becoming aware in your dreams as well as waking life, and this will lead to you knowing its a dream and confirming so by doing a RC.

I also noticed you don't like doing RC, and I've got some possible good news for you. I've been having more lucid dreams now when I do SAT and very few RC throughout the day, rather than a couple months ago when I would mindlessly RC every 10-20 minutes. The endless RC'ing does get cumbersome and it didn't work as well as SAT for me at least.

Yeah, it's weird because I can do affirmations all damn day, but doing reality checks just piss me off. I try to enjoy them, try to really get into them, but I just don't. While I was smoking outside a while ago I actually used all of my senses of my surroundings. Felt the warmth of the sun on my face, but the cool concrete of the porch against my soles, the breeze throw my hair in my face, the smell of a couple of hairs burning, etc. The one thing I forgot to do was recall how it was that I got out there and what I was doing before.

I've noticed that with a lot of suggestions in the DV Academy Logs, that they mention to not jump into harder aspects of dreaming in the beginning, but to just do simple things. I'm getting some ideas, but generally, what do you think are the easiest ones to simply go for in the beginning to get used to lucid dreaming and control?

Thanks again for any information, and I can kind of tell that ADA might not do too good for me, since throughout the day, I like to daydream a lot! I also like to meditate through affirmations and movement. Like how one time it took me three hours to clean the counter of my workplace, just because I was really getting into it.

Last night, in my eyes, I had success with a number of things. First, I know how my environment needs to be so that I am comfortable. I switched up the norm, thinking I'd be more comfortable if I could move around freely, but no, I'm the kind of person that likes to be bundled, like in a sleeping bag.

Second, MILD will never work for me, simply because when I affirm anything before or while going to sleep, it draws me right the hell out of everything. And for some odd reason, I actually was doing both WILD and MILD (or attempting to accidentally) at the same time. I started off with the WILD, then somehow I got lost in my own mind and started doing affirmations, or mantras, which pulled me out quickly.

Third, after I remembered the steps of WILD (don't know why they were hard to remember), I easily got into SP and it felt like all I needed was a little boost and I would've popped out of my body, on many occasions, but I couldn't get the boost. Then, I saw a large chain coming up from the floor and going to my ceiling, it was moving upward, so I reached out and grabbed it, I could feel the texture, temperature of the chain, but the second I touched it, it stopped moving. And I mean I saw my hand come out of my physical hand to grab it, except I didn't see the tattoos I have on my hand. But once the chain stopped, I let go, and I could've swore that I was in the dream world. But then I opened my damn eyes! I even had to do two reality checks to make sure because it was like I still couldn't hear anything like my sound machine, my Dad's TV, nothing, but I was awake, and once I did the reality checks, everything came back to normal.

Fourth, when I finally went to sleep, I felt like I had the longest dream I have ever had, followed by another. Both were long, but the first was the longest, it seriously seemed like it was at least an hour inside the dream world. And, for once, both dreams were completely out of the ordinary, and I mean really out of the ordinary, at least for me. I like the first one the most though.

Fifth, my dream recall is damn good now. Since October 28, I have anywhere from two long entries, to five a night. There are two days where I couldn't remember anything, and then one night where there was only one dream, but that was also a night where my sleep was really bad.

I just gotta keep trying with the WILD, I feel like it's the best way for me, and I just need to learn a little more on it, even though I literally roamed this site all day yesterday, soaking it all in. Hell I never even turned on my TV yesterday.

Also, this is the WILD method I used, I think I got it from YoshiKing.
1. Flex and relax my muscles starting from my toes up. (this helped out a lot)
2. Focused on my breathing without thinking, letting any thoughts come and go without any focus on the thoughts until they stopped.
3. Reverse blinked until my eyes stayed closed. (didn't take any time at all really)
4. Became aware that my whole body felt numb. Swallowing didn't really bother me, it took me out of it for a brief moment, but then I got right back in once I swallowed.
5. Imagined my room as it is, seeing the posters, the TV, stereo, speakers, carpet, walls, etc., in a rotating fashion. This is where I started picturing things and this is where the chain came from, and this is where I felt like I could easily escape my physical body.

It wasn't until after this failed by me opening my eyes that I either got confused or excited and for some reason added mantras to the WILD technique, which is what ruined it for me I'm sure of.

Congrats, gen_nair, you definitely entered a lucid dream for a brief moment when you grabbed that chain hallucination. With practice, you'll be able to control your dream body without moving your real body, and it will get easier to stay in the dream. Basically, just keep doing what you're doing until you gain lots of skill.

Really, that was me entering a lucid dream? Hells yeah. This happened while I was trying to go to bed though, but that is the kind of stuff that always happens to me, doesn't matter if I do it through meditation or trying to get into sleep.

Any tips on fully transitioning into the dream world? Such as, if when I grabbed onto the chain, and it stopped, should I have told it to pull me the hell out?

The hallucinations you see will probably be different every time. All I can say is just try to interact with them, reach out and touch them, etc. Practice makes perfect.

Well, ever since I've been back and lurking around reading other people's suggestions and whatnot, I have noticed that my visualization has greatly increased, so thanks to the forum for that. BEFORE I could never really see anything, it was always smell, taste, feel and hearing, but never seeing. But yesterday, I did a meditation, or at least that's what I consider it, where I relaxed my body and mind, and then went into a type of SP and then the visions started.

It was funny though, when the visions started, it was like a life sized Mario, and he was doing a weird dance like Beavis and Butt-Head style, dry humping the air, smacking an imaginary ass, and so on. I remember laughing in real life, but the vision stayed luckily, and he even looked at me as if I were standing there and smiled. Then a big green monster, basically imagine a steroid injected Hulk, appeared and wanted to beat the hell out of Mario. But Mario flipped him off and the fight commenced.

Needless to say, Mario lost. But the cool thing, was when he tagged me in, like wrestling style, and I could see my hand reach out and slap his, and then I fought the green dude, and whipped his ass! Then after that I was inside the UFC octagon battling another fighter, and I could feel every punch, kick, even when I swooped in to pick him up and slam him down, I felt it and heard everything. The whole time my vision was perfect, and then I just beat him until his face was unrecognizable, then my hand was raised by Herb Dean, which rocked. That's when it all ended and I came out of it.

But it was cool, and I think the whole thing might have been pushed that direction because I was blasting All That Remains in my headphones. I don't know, but it was cool. But still no success with controlling my actual dreams, but I've been getting pulled into them, like the people see me more, and bring me into it, instead of me just watching like it's TV. So that's cool. I'll keep practicing. Thanks for all the help guys.
