Just hit SP while lying "upright" on a home theatre chair.

I had almost no sleep last night - I went to bed at 4:00 AM, and woke up at 9:00. After getting up I went bowling for around an hour and then came back home, but I was pretty tired so I went to a chair and turned the lights off, curling up in it with my side against the back of the chair and my legs bent up towards my chest. My head was relaxed, leaning against the headrest, while my whole body was only about thirty degrees from being totally upright - I actually wasn't reclined backwards, though, but to the side. It was pretty comfy, and the temperature of the house was pretty cool, almost shiver-inducing.

I was "lying" there for not even ten minutes and then I 'heard' vibrations, like heavy something on a wall rattling, but not quite felt them. I also could see in my mind's eye in front of me, and someone dark was walking towards me. I couldn't move, and my heart rate was going up a bit. I wasn't in a good sleeping position, so I imagined my body moving to break out of it. I'll be trying again right now, but in a slightly different position.

Have you ever reached SP in a similar manner?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Whoa, that's awesome. I once tried to induce SP in a car before when I was tired - not the one driving of course! And heck, I can't even enter SP and you did it so easily in that position
      Guess everyone's different though

Haha, let's hope no one ever tries to induce SP while driving.

I was in that weird state where I felt I could fall asleep very easily, almost like I was half-asleep already. I was quite tired, after all, so that must have been the culprit. I find SP episodes also increase in frequency if the surrounding temperature is a bit cooler (Winter time + someone who forgot to turn up the thermostat = WILD?). After all, I read somewhere that one's body temperature actually cools down when they sleep, so this might help trick your mind into starting up SP. That's why I mentioned that in the OP.
