Ringing in my ears
I know it's normal to hear weird sounds when you fall asleep, but does anyone else get powerful ringing in their ears? It comes and goes. Sometimes I'll get it accompanied with a feeling of sort of lightly melting, but I can't help it -- I immediately focus on it and it usually ends up going away. This normal?

Well i think it is a sign of you shifting from real focus to dream focus. You are moving from real body to dream body. The problem is ,that when you focus on the sound comming from your ears, you actualy focus on your real ears, thus shifting your focus back to real world. If you could pretend that the sound is a sirene on a beach on an island somewhere in ancient ocean, you would move closer to dream focus.
All these sensations are harbingers of dream state. But as you are associating them with real body parts you drift away from dream back to reality.
Actually wild is nothing more than giving in to these signals which eventually lead you to dream world. No sleep paralysis needed. Just dissociating from real body and associating with dream body. Everything else is just sugar ;)

There are several disciplines such as Sant Mat and Eckankar that focus on that ringing sound.

This ringing sound is known as the sound current and is used as a kind of "homing device" to draw us closer to our source. I use it to enter dreaming.

Symptomatic of imminent WILD success. For me, this is typically accompanied by vivid imagery - at its onset, I focus on counting my breath (making sure not to alter its pattern). Then voila! WILD, well, in the sense that I then have to 'roll' out of my body.
