Stuck at auditory hallucinations.

This night I've slept only 4 hours, so when I came home from school I wanted to get some sleep and figured out I would go straight into REM because of sleep deprivation, so WILD it was.

Here's the problem, I got into SP pretty fast, then I started to get slight visual hallucinations and a little later auditory hallucinations, this is where I felt like I'm almost there, but I never crossed the border to the dream world, it just didn't happen. I returned to normal SP after this failure, kept lying still, got to the part with the auditory hallucinations again and still didn't slip into a dream, although it felt like I was so close. I was there, trying for 30 minutes, after this bitter failure decided to get up.

Has this happened to anyone, if yes, any advice? Thanks

Every fifteen seconds or so imagine seeing an extremely bright flash of light and imagine hearing an extremely loud bang. This should help to strengthen the slight visual hallucinations and help the dream to evolve. Also you could try separating from your body into the non-physical version of your room instead.

It might be helpful to listen closely to the hallucinations. Try to make them louder and louder. Eventually they will kind of wash over you.

I agree with the guys above me. I've only had one encounter with audio HI before and honestly it's really, really weird. I'd rather see something in front of me than being able to hear it and not see it...lol. I've only had whispers though, no banging or screams (thank god). But I wish you good luck and remember that you can do it, everyone can.

I'm in the same boat. Last night, I had some intense hypnagogic hallucinations after WBTB. Like you, it started out with faint visuals, then the audio. It sounded like a combination of electronic noises and machinery. It got louder and louder and at the same time a wave of energy pulsed through my body and culminated in my brain and it felt amazing. I remember feeling like I was smiling with my mouth open like an idiot but then could feel without moving that my mouth was closed.

As I've never successfully WILD'd (only a few attempts) I thought for sure as this energy burst through my brain that I was about to enter a dream. I could feel the energy leave and it felt like my head kind of sunk back to reality and then there was silence and darkness. I slowly opened my eyes to see my room as I lay there. This same cycle happened at least three more times before I eventually fell asleep. I did end up having a semi lucid dream but I don't recall how I got there.

When I woke up I kept thinking of Speak To Me>Breathe, however I never got to breathe in the air or choose my own ground, if you will.

Exactly, I also felt like reaching a peak of increasing unconsciousness for a few seconds and then returning back to reality. Also it's really annoying that WBTB is the preferable method, it's hard to stay focused after waking up at night in my opinion. This is the reason I try WILDs during the day when I'm a little sleep deprived, who knows this may be the reason for failure.
