      WILD iPhone App Giveaway

      Hello everyone.

Yesterday, I released a new iPhone app called Dreamseeder in the App Store. It's my second app that helps users achieve lucidity (some of you may remember the Dreamcontroller app I released 10 months ago). The idea is simple and, as far as I can tell, reasonably novel: After a user-defined delay, the app wakes you up and displays an image or plays a video of the user's choosing.

So think of it as a bit of an experiment. If waken at an advantageous time, can imagery or concepts be vividly inserted into a dream?

For anyone interested in trying the app and finding out, I'd be happy to furnish a promo code. (The app costs $0.99; with a promo code, it's free.)

Full details on the app can be found here:

      App Store - Dreamseeder

Please send me a private message if you're interested.

      Thanks very much!

Understood. My primary interest is to see if it has merit and find out if there's anything a well-informed user would like to see changed or added in future releases. Thanks for being willing to give it a try. I'll PM you a code right away.

I would be happy to try but I don't quite understand how this app works... Care to explain it in more detail???

Oh and for the record I'll try it out on Tuesday I'll post my results here on wednesday... I have some nice experiences with lucid dreaming and if I get success with your method I'll add it to my book found here:
Out-of-Body Experience (OBE) and Lucid Dreaming - Entering the Phase - A 17-Year-Old’s Journey
(if I fail I will still log my experience in full detail within my book however I will not go around telling people it failed... If I succeed however I will advertise your program and devote a whole chapter in my book to your app and my lucid experiences it gives me)

See if you can beat my lucid dreaming record I achieved by following Nicholas Newport... His course got me 2 lucid dreams in 3 days from the first time I tried it... sadly it gave me insomnia for a while which is why I gave up...

Anyway can't wait to try it out... I'll pm you now!

The concept behind the app is simple: Wake from sleep after a user-selected sleep duration then return to sleep while viewing user-selected media (image or video). The app therefore (1) sounds an alarm after a set sleep duration, (2) runs a quick consciousness check, then (3) displays an image or video of the user's choosing.

Let me give a little more detail about those parts of the app's function.

      (1) The alarm delay can be set by the user at anywhere from 15 minutes to 8 hours. I recommend using the same wake time as works best for WILD. The idea is that you are adequately rested, yet in an impressionable, hypnagogic state. Returning to a dream state from this point should at least allow the viewed imagery (see #3, below) to imprint, and at best initiate WILD.

      (2) To silence the alarm, the user must correctly answer a simple math problem. It takes one click to answer (it's multiple choice for a simple addition problem), but should nearly eliminate the chance of dismissing the alarm without waking.

      (3) Images appear for a preset duration (i.e., the user selects how many seconds the image remains viewable). Videos play once through.

Again, the net effect of the app's function should be the insertion of the selected imagery into a heightened-consciousness dream.

To my knowledge, this has never been tested. I would love to know if I'm wrong on that point. Also, there are plenty of promo codes left if anyone wants to give this a try.

Thanks for your fantastic explanation... I'll try it out every Tuesday for the next 3 weeks and hopefully I'll dream of the image I see... Nice to see your performing your own experiments!

Huh, this is really interesting. I'm curious to know how it works...I'd be happy to test it out, I get lucid pretty regularly and setting an alarm to wake me up and then going right back to sleep is usually enough to help me into lucidity more naturally.

      12padams,

I understand your issue with having to leave your iPad on. I can explain why this is the case.

The app was designed for the iPhone to take advantage of its proximity sensor. That is, all iPhones shut off their screens without going into sleep mode when the phone is held near one's face. This makes good sense; there's no need to power the screen and annoy the user with a bright light when the device is held against the face and used as a phone. Keep reading, and this will all make sense.

This is important because an app can't continue to perform its functionality while an iOS device is in sleep mode (not officially, anyhow). Accordingly, Dreamseeder has been programmed in a way that disables your device's ability to go into sleep mode. Were the device Dreamseeder ran on allowed to sleep, the timer would stop working, the alarm would never go off, and the app would essentially do nothing. For most apps, this is no big deal; you use them actively for relatively brief periods of time and can pay attention to your battery life. With Dreamseeder, you "use" it for hours continuously, and for most of that time you're unconscious.

So now you see the problem: Dreamseeder could easily drain your battery before it ever gets the chance to wake you up. There are two ways to address this. Either leave your iOS device plugged in on your nightstand or lay your iPhone (this won't work on an iPad) face down on a flat surface while the app is running. Doing the latter will power off the screen and, since the screen is what's using the vast majority of power required by the app, your iPhone will be able to run Dreamseeder continuously for days if need be.

So I suggest you do one of two things. Either leave your iPad plugged in or run the app on your iPhone (if you have one). If you need another promo code, please don't hesitate to send me a private message.

Well I have tried this app once so far. I used an image of times square however after getting to sleep I didn't see any city buildings or anything. I will try this app a few more times at a later date and hopefully I get results. I am a poor sleeper and it takes me a while to get to sleep which is what most likely is hindering my ability to get my dream seeded.

Good luck with your research project...

Maybe experiment with the alarm delay? I would think the best time to attempt seeding would be at your ideal WBTB time.

      First Try

Since my goal is to go to the moon these days, I selected the background image as this:

Woke up with the app, remembered what my goal is, but somehow I couldn't WILDed, and slept. But, later in the morning I woke up. I pinched my nose just in case, I could breath. So that was a FA which I love, because the vividness and the quality are just good as WILD. So I got up, like I was rolling out of my body. I was blind at first, and then shouted clarity, I began to see. Suddenly I had an urge to look at my hands, I don't know why. They were hazy; I couldn't even count my fingers. I'm skipping the detail. I flew over the window and landed somewhere. It was raining and I felt every drop, amazing. Then I remembered my goal. I got near a wall and summoned a portal. Now I was seeing exactly the same background which I put on dreamseeder. Then I entered the portal and voilą! I was in the moon, observing the space and the earth from there.

Well I think it served its purpose. What do you think?
