DEILD for WILDING
*I understand that DEILDs come under the WILD heading* :D
Having had more success with DEILDs than WILDs - skipping the WBTB, the anchors etc for DEILDs - I'm considering that DEILD might be a better method for someone like me who falls asleep waaaaay too easily for straight up WILDing.
It doesn't matter my WBTB length or quality, whether I count or listen to music/mantras/white noise/ticking clock, visualise, imagine dreams - at some point in the process of a WILD I will always, always lose consciousness. Usually after about five minutes in fact!
I've got to the point where I can recognise and note each process from illogical thoughts, to the HH, but only once to SP during a WILD which led into a lucid. I recognised the SP from my DEILDS.
With DEILDs it's much easier but I don't want to abandon WBTB WILDs completely - I'm thinking of trying the CanWILD tutorial which seems a good middle ground. I just have no luck with staying awake short of pain :( And as everyone says, the goal is to fall asleep, just not fall unconscious!
So I'm wondering whether learning the process through DEILDs would help with WILDS? If I went back to DEILDs and then tried WILDing again later, would that make a difference?

DEILD is a shortened WILD and if it's easy for you, I would stick with that. When you wake up at night and manage to stay motionless, go for a DEILD. If you move, get up for WBTB and try a WILD.
Have you tried DILD/MILD? I doesn't require you to wake up, or to keep your mind awake while your body is falling asleep. You just practice some daytime awareness, do some reality checks and repeat your mantras.
Good luck!

Yup, like gab has said, the DEILD is a rapid WILD. Personally, I think the only way learning to DEILD could benefit WILD is being patient and calm. Apart from that, trying to WILD is just... different. In a DEILD where you're already relaxed and calm from waking up and just wait for the dream to come, a WILD usually requires you to do a WBTB and be able to find that balance between awareness and falling asleep.
Answer to you question; from my point of view, though it could help, it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

The DEILD is the ideal form of WILD. If you've learned how to DEILD consistently then there is no need for anything else. Why waste time and sleep by completely waking up and then slowly falling asleep in order to WILD when you already know how to do it immediately upon awakening?
