Does this have a name??
Hello all,
I've been able to WILD fairly consistently. I used to get hypnagogic (spelling?) imagery all the time, but now i experience a different process. As i try to go back to sleep, i experience nothing but blackness. Then for about 5-10 seconds I feel like i'm being sucked through a vacuum, kind of crushed. Similar to what I imagine a portkey would feel like from Harry Potter if any of you are familiar. Its like a pulling sensation all over, and after i "let go" of my physical body i experience a slow "rolling over" sensation and then wake up in the dream.
This process has happened for maybe the last 5 or 6 times I've tried to WILD. Im curious if there is a name to either of those 2 sensations (the pulling/rolling over).
Thanks!

In all the references I've read that talk about these physical feelings, I've never seen a specific name. It's not HI, exactly, because it's not imagery. I guess it would just be the transition.

Gotcha. Any idea why I might have stopped getting hallucinations and just go straight into the transition? From what i've read most people always get some form of either visual or auditory hallucinations.

Actually, your transition is nothing strange. The first time I WILDed, I felt intense vibrations and heard a sound like a train was bearing down on me. I haven't heard the sound since, and I never have visual hallucinations. While some people do experience HI, it's certainly not required, and your transition doesn't always stay perfectly constant.

Very interesting. I used to get a really high pitched whirling siren kind of sound with very intense visual hallucinations, but now I dont get either.... Just seems strange that it would change abruptly.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Well, there are many different kinds of sensations you get during transition. Visual, auditory, tactile hallucinations, vibrations. They can all be really strong or not so strong or not there at all, and in different combination. I never had two transitions that were same. I have never heard anybody naming them, not even in lucid dreaming books. Except perhaps the acceleration sensation, when you feel like you moving/falling at extremely high rate of speed.
