How does rolling over during WILD help?

Some people talk about rolling over during WILD, for example, Yoshi, who says to roll over after ten minutes. I also hear about the stop, drop, and roll technique. During WILD, aren't you supposed to keep completely still? And if you do roll over, I start WILD on my back, so is it ok to roll over onto your stomach, and not your side, because my most comfortable sleeping position is on my stomach.:cheeky: Thanks!

I have been reading up on some new research results concerning the roll over signal that one gets when falling asleep. You can lay completely still and for many people if they ignore the urge to roll over then this leads to sleep paralysis. I am assuming that Yoshi's method doesn't involve using the roll over signal to induce a WILD but instead to give into the roll over signal and to roll over so that it doesn't interupt the method Yoshi advocates. If you do roll over it is customary to find a position that is comfortable for you. Having said that some people use a slightly uncomfortable position as the anchor they need to maintain awareness to enter their WILD instead of falling asleep. I know that one author finds the most uncomfortable position to be the best position for him to WILD. Experiment with different techniques by following the instructions and see what woks best for you.

The research I have been studying involves manipulating the roll over signal that brings on hypnopompic hallucainations very quickly thus giving one visual imagery way before the onset of natural sleep which can lead to an easily induced WILD. It is a clever little trick and I will be making some time to try it once over the next week to see how well it performs.

Yeah, Yoshi's technique simply helps you to get into SP because it would make the dreamer not confident while laying there for long periods of time.

Jeff's guide is for when you get a feeling to roll over and you don't. This makes your body think your mind is asleep and it so goes to sleep.

So, if you don't have any feelings after ten minutes roll over. Eventually you will either get a) SP or b) A strong feeling to roll over.

If you get b) then you must stay still and ignore it no matter what, that will lead to SP as well. I haven't actually tried either of these techniques but that's what makes sense from the two posts.

It's possible to WILD in every position, so you don't have to start with lying on your back if you don't want to.

I usually WILD only by lying on my back, but sometimes I feel like I must roll over to my side after a while. I can't stand that feeling, so I just roll over. Sleep paralysis then happens just a few moments later.
