Not entering SP, I get the tingly rush but then nothing.

Hi guys,

So my issue is that while attempting to enter SP, I get to the stage where the amazing rush comes over me, my heart-rate goes through the roof and then nothing happens, I'm still laying there in a normal state. Another thing that bugs me is I've never seen the hypnagogic imagery described by so many people, I just see extremely faint light that is barely unnoticeable.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I've tried to shallow my breathing before the rush sets in but still got nothing.

I have a slightly similar problem when I went to sleep today. I got to the stage you described (pleasant rush, high heart rate) and nothing happened for a while. Then, a LITTLE bit of hypnagogic imagery kicked in; I heard a few strange sounds and occasionally a picture that looked like it was from a cartoon or a disney movie. Occasionally, I felt my consciousness fading and I had to concentrate hard on my mantra (it was my anchor, maybe I should have used a different one like crickets) to pull myself out of it. I too saw only faint light, although it was greenish and of course nonexistent.

My failure might be because I was supposed to enter that concious-fading somehow and I was focusing too hard on my anchor and that I should have used a physical anchor instead of one in my mind. It also might be because it happened at around 9:30 PM instead of at my WBTB alarm that I had set that day for 2:00 AM.

Of the little I do know about WILD, though, you're on the right track. I just don't know what's wrong. Maybe you have to wait longer?

Well you have to find out what works for you e.g acting like your falling, lead blanket, mental anchor, lying completely still. What probably ruined your attempt is the anticipation of paralysis and you got to excited, you'll have to learn how to keep your heartbeat low and stay breathing relaxed. If your heart is beating extremely fast your body does not want to fall asleep.

I too have the same problem, I get a tingling rush over my entire body. My heart rate stays relatively low though, I've been able to get to this point for months. After I get the little rush, I start to feel like I'm whirling around in my bed. I was told to count from 100 to 50, and by the time I get to 50, I should be in a dream. I did this over and over last night after a WBTB for over 30 minutes. I was only active for about 10 minutes during my WBTB. After some time, I had difficulty counting my numbers (ie: 77, 76, 73, 74, 75). I never managed to enter a dream with a WILD. Suggestions or tips?

I have the exact same problem and it's really frustrating! Some people seem to enter SP with such ease but I just end up giving up because I realize that I've been trying for too long.

I'm not in the mood for linking guides right now so I'l just explain what I do and hopefully you can spot some differences or helpfull tips.
Firstly the method I practise is Deild, because it is about ten times easier than Wild and it only takes minutes, so here it goes.
I have an alarm which plays for 5 seconds to wake me up at around 4am. The moment I wake up I don't move any part of my body nor do I open my eyes and lay completely still. The tingly feeling starts straight away and my body gets really uncomfortable, but I persist. A get an insane urge to move but if I don't give all of a sudden my whole body is shot into light paralysis (this is how far you've come, except it only took me around a minute or 2). Once in this stage I stay really calm and try to visualize an entire dreamscene, from how it feels and smells, what I am doing, talking to people. After a while you just fall into your dream lucidly.
And that is all. My point being after this big long story is that visualization is key, but not to much and not too little. You have to simulate a memory and you will automatically fall into it.
I'm not sure if all of this would work well for Wilding but it definetely works for Deild.

I was told that mantras are very helpful for DEILDS, in particular. The only way I wake up in the middle of the night is if I drink a glass of water before I go to bed. May I ask for an alarm suggestion or is it just a default alarm?

Well if you have an andriod or iphone I could link you to over three or four apps which have to function built in. Some people also use online messaging apps but again I think you need a phone. Off course with mantras you can teach yourself how to wake up after every dream but I haven't bothered because I also have to say mantras for staying still.

hey dutch, could you please link android ones? thanks:)

Sorry to be a bother but does anyone know of any iPad ones? I've tried the regular alarm clock apps but none of them have an auto shut off feature.
