Hey mate,
I haven't done this myself, but the idea is to focus on your breathing, don't move, but try to keep your mind aware. If your thoughts drift, you might fall asleep without the paralysis. I'm assuming you're going for a WILD?
Good luck!
I've entered partial sp but get to exited and my heart starts to try and pound out of my chest and it goes away, lol. I guess i just need to work on staying calm. I've had a few LD but never a WILD (which is what im working on)
Well then, I'll give it a go tonight, and if it works, I'll say how I did it!
Good luck with your WILDs!
A lot of the experienced dreamers have been debating on if the term SP is harmful to a beginner's understanding of WILD. Here, is the thing. You are attempting to stay mentally aware while your body falls asleep. That is the goal. Reaching SP should not be a goal. The debate is about the fact that most of us can move our bodies when we reach a state called REM atonia. It is a state that keeps you from acting out your dream. That should be the end of the story. For say 19 out of 20 people, it will only prevent dream movements, not willful concious movement. There are a few people who can not move, but it is rare. Here is the huge problem! You are finally truely asleep if you reach REM atonia, but if you foolishly attempt to move (to test the suppossed SP) then you may cause your body to wake up! Bad!
The state you want is where you start to loose awareness of your physical body and it feels as if you could not move unless you honestly make a point of it. This will normaly happen around the same time strange sensations like vibrations or heat happen. Do not move to test it or you will wake yourself up. It is just a mile post along the way to let you know you have succeded in having your body fall asleep.
i read the thread were you guys argued about it and i under stand that but i dont feel vibrations or any other sensations when trying to WILD and i dont have a hieghtend sence of awareness and i cant go into a LD from this point.
It sounds like you need to start at the beginning. Maybe try reading the stuff Sageous teaches in the DVA section. WILD is incredibly complicated if you are not already adept at meditation. I recommend trying MILD until you have at least a dozen good LDs then coming back to WILD.
so i was kinda getting tired and ive seen some people can WILD when they take a nap during the day so i decided to try(didnt ecspect any thing to happen) when all the suddon i felt like i was moving up and down really fast:shock:. unfortanatly it starteled me and I "woke up". I should add i had hillusinations of random things i was thinking about, going to try WBTB tonight, wish me luck.
Good luck. remember to not engage your mind in thinking about much. If you lie there and think about your day or work, it will prevent you from honestly falling in to sleep. Keep aware, but not by thinking in any detail.
