I really want to try and perform a DEILD, but it seems that I never wake up during the night after a dream ends. Is there anything I can do in order to make sure that I wake up?
I've tried mantras for this a few times, but I haven't been able to do it that way.
Most of the people don't notice it, but we do wake up after each REM is over. Most of the time we just turn to the other side and keep sleeping, and that's fine for ordinary folks, that don't lucid dream. It's not any "big awakening", just still half asleep. And that point is when you should condition yourself to start noticing. Perhaps just by thinking about this often will help you notice it.
You say mantras don't work. Have you tried one, that wakes you up at certain time? We have this ability to wake up at certain time, like when you travel, or have to get up at not normal time (at least, it works for me).
So maybe you can set up this mantra to wake up at later time in the night, when most of the sleeping time is in REM and you are likely to be in a dream.
Another thing is to drink water before bed - it should wake you up at night and you may get lucky. Happy dreams:alien:
it came naturally for me. I was able to do it with alarm clock when before i got into lucid dreaming. Now, it all depends on how vivid my dreams are. I usually notice when they are over and attempt a DEILD. I think mantras helped a bit for me
I have been known to wake up at a certain time without an alarm clock or going to bed at a certain time. I will definitely give this a try!Quote:

Become more aware of your dreams by dream recall, mantras or the water routine (I drink two glass of water before bed) and you will become aware of the awakenings as well.
While going to sleep at night I always think while LOOKING at the back of my eyelids (I am aware of when I have woke up and I lay still".

Then upon awakening I do the exact same thing, but this time the movement free reality check usually work :)
Movement free reality checks or non-physical testing can be anything from by visualization trying to see anything from your chosing, to listening to the tone in your ears that usually occurs upon awakenings or even imagined movement like imagine yourself doing a cartwheel.
This morning I imagined seeing my hands and almost instantly I saw them! then it began...
(It stared out as a lucid dream ended like a undescribed feeling of awareness of being trapped, not being able to get aware of one's reality)

I jsut learned of a new technique of another user, and it works incredibly well. Wake up after a few hours of sleep, try to recall your dream, maybe have a drink. Then before falling asleep again tell yourself that you will wake up in thirty mins or something similar. The mantra's work a tonne better when done during a WBTB and I almost always have wake up afterwards.
Using a mantra I actually woke up for a DEILD! Unfortunately I always forgot to DEILD, but yesterday I added a bit into my mantra to 'know to DEILD' sure enough, I woke up, and started to go into a dream, and my alarm to wake me up to remember to DEILD went off! I hate alarms! That's twice now in a week it's ruined a possible lucid dream.
Dutchraptor, I will have to try that, ive been setting two alarms twenty minutes apart which was doing the same, but I like the idea of using mantras for that better
after a while of using the same mantra it starts to lose its meaning. Dont forget to change it up a bit:bluesmile:
