What stage of a WILD was I in? (odd sensation)

I had a very odd sensation while attempting a WILD. I've been lucid dreaming on and off now for about a year and a half and I've never successfully induced a WILD. I've fallen into a lucid dream late mornings a couple times, but I've never experienced sleep paralysis, vibrations, audio hallucinations, or the "drop". All of my LDs have been DILDs.

Last night i wanted to try to attempt a WILD again so I relaxed on my on my back. I did not move for about 40 minutes and everything got very heavy which is normal for me (experienced while previously attempting WILDs). Then my eyes started to go crazy and i couldn't keep my eyes closed. My eyelids were fluttering uncontrollably. After about 5 seconds after that my whole body started to vibrate and tingle. All of this was going on without sleep paralysis.

Due to the fact i couldn't keep my eyes closed and the tingling was so uncomfortable i just rolled to my side and lost the WILD. Since i was not in sleep paralysis was i still a couple stages away from the drop into the dream? Any tips?

Look around the forum for more info about eyes twitching. It has been discussed. I think sleep mask would help with keeping your eyes closed.

Any sensation you are experiencing is a part of falling asleep process. It happens every time, but we don't notice it, because by then we are asleep. Try to push through it and you will get closer to WILD. And even if you move, you can continue with your attempt. It should take you few minutes to get back on track.

Never had tingle, but I get vibrations just minutes before I enter dream. So you were very close.

SP is something you either experience or not. Most of the people don't. So waiting for it, or making it a certain point in your attempt that you need to get to, or get past, or experience, is detrimental. Same thing with other sensations. Most of the time I get vibrations and always I get the acceleration feeling. But sometimes I get falling, or floating, or sound, or something else. So every attempt is pretty much different from the other. If I waited for a specific one, I would give up a lot, thinking it's not gonna happen, because I didn't experience that one sensation I thought I should have. Hope this makes sense. Please do ask, if you have anything else. Happy dreams

So i got a sleep mask and i've been trying/practicing the last couple days. Last attempt, i got to the point where i started to sink into my bed. I tried to ignore it and just try to fall asleep and thats where i started to lose it. Then I payed attention to it a little more, and it was too much. Im having trouble finding the balance between the two.

Sinking in bed is good. A simple mantra like "I'm dreaming" may keep you aware, but not too much. The balance is tricky.

Last night i tried listening to this to guide me

Astral Projection Guided Meditation (*EASY*) Oobe w/ Binaural Vibrations - YouTube

After about 20 minutes i started to "corkscrew" in my bed. I just kept spinning and spinning and spinning for about 30-40 seconds. My heart was beating out of my chest. I didnt have any visuals but it was the most intense REM atonia i've ever had. I was glued to my bed.

What should i have done in that spinning moment to slip into a dream? Was i just too worked up to fall asleep?
