How much should you think during a WILD?

      Hello!
I would like to know whether it is bad to think too much while trying a WILD. And how much do you generally think while attempting one? I tend to get carried away in thought while I am lying still.
So should you let your thoughts do what they please or should you try to stay calm and focus on lucid dreaming? I’m just afraid that I will fall asleep if I let my mind wonder too much. Thanks!

I recommend to try WILD after at least five hours of sleep, but I think more sleep before attempting WILD equals better results. Your goal is to fall asleep while conscious, if you think too much you might just not fall asleep and if you don't think enough you can fall asleep, but not consciously. It's a question of balance. Personally when I do it I try to not be awake enough to think too much, I usually do it when I wake up.

People says it's hard to WILD, but it's not. It's about finding your own way to do it, it can take some time and perseveration. But if you never give up and you are determined to success, you will master this technique.

It depends what your thinking about!

You should be thinking about anything other then the dream/what your doing. You shouldn't be focusing on what you are going to do the next day xD. Also, you shouldnt be focused on getting to SP, you should just be focused on getting into the dream. Just relax, and let it come to you

A WILD tutorial I practice said you should focus your mind only on one thing, if you managed to get into a dream, that vision you have in your mind will transform into a dream. So I'll usually picture my room in my head and if I am successful, I get into my dream room.

When I chain my dreams, that is when I use the DEILD method I think about lots of stuff and that stuff eventually becomes a dream. ^-^

So in my eyes I don't see thinking hinder the process of dreaming, it is however very difficult to think about lots of stuff and not fall asleep

But try it and see what the result is for you, this is just what happens in my experience.

When I WILD I usually meditate, so I would call that being aware of my thoughts rather than to creating the thoughts which might sound weird.
But as you relax you will notice weird random thoughts that doesn't really seems to come from you, I promise.
Eventually these thoughts disapears and all you now have is no physical sensations, no physical senses and no thoughts you are in a dark void of nothingness and you just are awareness. This is what I like to call "to just be".

So for WILD to be or not to be, is for me not even a question

So my advice would be to not control the thoughts, but to be aware of them, because these are what later on will form your dreams and if you are aware of your thoughts from the beginning you are in a sense already aware of the dream. But that's just a thought

      Sweet (thoughts) dreams!

That's interesting, and it sounds about right. Next time I WILD I'll picture my room.

I practice meditating sometimes, so I kind of get what you mean. Though I never got to that "to just be" state. You give really great advice, so I am going to remember your comment next time I attempt a WILD. You are a very wise mastermind, thank you!

Your welcome Roll, but I am not wise, I just have experience Anyone can learn what I have and so can you

Another Shakespeare quote to illustrate Because you are not the first to call me wise today. Hugs to all of you

"The fool don't think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool"

I think I finally understand what this means.

In my dream journal is more info on my view of meditation if you are interested.

      Have fun!
