Failing at WILD
Ok, so Im pretty new to LD but ive read a lot about it and tried a while back to ld and just kinda forgot about it until now. Other night I tried to WILD and I successfully reached the SP and felt intense vibrations and I "rode" them out. But i never reached the LD part. I just lay and nothing really happened. Only other difference was my eyes kept wanting to open and eventually i just opened them thinking I was LD but to no avail I saw my room and everything was normal. I guess my question is, what should I do after the vibrations? And tonight I tried to WILD again and pretty sure I reached SP as it felt like my arms were not there, but again I lay there trying to imagine images and my eyes wanting to open and I failed again.... Any advice?

SP is a state in which you cannot move your body and you are totally paralyzed. The numbness may take over but unless you are sure you cannot move your body, you cannot say that you reached SP. In fact when attempting to Wild, you should not think about reaching SP (REM Atonia). And it is necessary to WBTB (I'm sure you know what that means) to increase your success rate.
If you are new to LD, you should actually Start by practicing and mastering DILD and MILD before you start to attempt WILD.
If you have any doubts just leave me a pm. :shadewink:

I agree. I'm sorry to say that was not sleep paralysis. Those are normal bodily sensations you experience while your body is falling asleep. The reason why you notice them is because you're maintaining awareness as your body is doing this, whereas normally you would just try to fall asleep completely. Also, it is recommended that you do not focus on sleep paralysis and reaching it. SP is NOT necessary to achieve a WILD. :) Might I suggest reading through the WILD class.
Good luck!

Often WILD can be very tricky. Do not forget that you MUST fall asleep. You want to stay aware AND fall asleep. That requires hiding your mind from itself. You need to reduce the level of mental activity, so do not think about your day or troubles. try counting until you space out then starting over. Just anything that keeps you aware, but on a level that will not prevent sleep.
This stuff is pretty advanced, but check it out, post #6, http://www.dreamviews.com/f157/dream...aining-133302/
It will explain how you move into a dream state.

To me, it looks like visualization might be a key element into getting past that stage between SP and entering a lucid dream. I also want to add that everyone experiences SP differently, and it is not exactly necessary for paralysis to be a symptom (however contradicting that may seem). When I experience SP, I get a wave of heaviness and ear-splitting feedback into my ears that lasts a few seconds. Usually, my SP comes in waves, getting more intense after each wave. I have only reached a dream a couple times from WILDing because of the pain from the feedback.

Thanks guys for all the help, I've learned some valuable info here. WILD is quite hard to achieve when just going to bed! Which I have been trying to do
