FILDing
FILDing sounds quite nice to me. It tickles my ears and seems humorous, naughty and nutty.
Anyway, I liked the technique and I decided to try it out. Gave it a go yesterday when I went to sleep and then again during the night when I woke up and then again in the morning and before a nap.
My only half-successful attempt was during the night. The other times I just fell asleep, forgetting about my finger movement.
So I kept moving my fingers and after a while realized that I stopped. Started again, then stopped. This happened in several cycles because I find it difficult to get to the sweet spot. But after a while when I remembered to wiggle my fingers again, I realized that I was dreaming for a split second before waking up. Happened because my fingers moved both in my dream and reality, which interrupted my dream.
This confirms the point that sleep paralysis happens after falling asleep, which also explains hypnogogic jerks!

Ok, last night I tried to FILD again with no success.
This time nothing happened at all. There were several cycles of wakefulness+finger wiggle, followed by falling asleep and unrelated non-lucid dreams. This happened for several hours, after which I decided to abandon the FILDing and just sleep for good. Tried it again in the morning once with the same result.
This time I was trying to move my fingers all time the until hypnagogia was reached and then do a reality check. I thought this would make me think more about the movement, so that I don't forget to do it while falling asleep. However, this slowed down the progression towards hypnogogia even though the movement was quite small. Didn't get enough sleep during the night and overslept in the morning.
