Scared/anxious to WILD
Hello all, this is my first post here. So I've been trying to have lucid dreams and I've successfully only had one, a LILD, but I really want to do WILDs. I've gotten to the points where I'm going in, well in the hypnagogic phase, but I hear the static, and last night I think I would have gone in. The (recurring) problem is I continue to have anxiety about WILDs, because I'm worried it'll go out in a nightmarish disaster. Anyone else have anxiety when they first started? Thanks for reading!

Just remember that if you don't like it, you can easily wake yourself up in seconds. In fact, the main problem people have when they get into a lucid dream is that they wake up too easily. It takes a certain amount of concentration to maintain the dream, so certainly if there's anything about it that disturbs you, you will instantly pop out.
That being said, in my experience I've never had negative imagery in a lucid dream, and I've had lots. Other people will probably say the same thing, lucid dreams have the quality of being very happy once you're in one.

I agree with cmind. Once I realize I'm lucid, all worries fly out the window and suddenly I'm so happy and excited and ready to have some fun. If you have a bad dream, just think of your body and waking up and wake up you will. Or you can try and turn the monster into a kitten just by saying "what a cute kitten".
If you get some dark ideas during attempt, you can push them out by thinking about you favorite place, or something fun you wanna do in a lucid. Worst comes to worst, you can always abort and try again later, when you in better state of mind.
But I have never had anything, that would stop my attempt. The thought and lure of the award (LD) is just too great to pass up just because something may be a little scary.
Everything is easier, if you start attempt with happy mind and knowing, that you will have exhillarating experience. Happy dreams:alien:
