What you did was enter REM Atonia, not Sleep Paralysis. Check out this article for more information. Remember that the point of WILD is not to reach this so-called SP, it is to fall asleep. You must fall asleep in order to dream.
Perhaps a more experienced WILDer will be of more help to you.
It is true, that you don't need SP to WILD. And you are unlikely to get into SP or REM atonia while awake, unless you have a disorder. If you had a disorder, you would know it by now. Otherwise, getting SP, when your body is paralyzed so you can't move no matter what is a 1-2 in a lifetime thing.
Some tutorials tell you you need SP to WILD. Which would be fine for people who get SP regularly, like every night. Then they can use it to their advantage. But majority of population don't have this disorder, so majority of WILDers don't have it either. Yet, they are perfectly fine WILDing. And not missing anything. Trying to get into SP is an unnecessary extra step.
If you want to WILD, all you need to do is to fall asleep while keeping some awareness. Your body will take care of REM atonia for you, whether you like it or not.
BTW, vibrations, images, sounds, any other hallucinations - these are all signs of your body falling asleep, not SP.
WILD(sageous)
Also it's very rare for WILD to be successful when falling asleep normally, it's not impossible, but it's better to not rely on that. Instead use WBTB for WILDing or naps, naps are golden time for lucid dreaming in general as well if you have time for them. And as gab said, just fall asleep while keeping enough awareness, whether you experience hypnogogic hallucinations or not, and which hallucinations you experience varies from person to person, some of them can be used as an entry for WILD but don't concentrate on physical body sensations since that might keep you too awake, also check out this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html :)
Check out the tutorial gab linked as well, some good indepth information about WILDing there. :reading:
