I understand WILD now

This morning I woke up for what felt like an instant. I'm not sure if I opened my eyes. But my body felt warm and motionless. It doesn't even occur to me to move. It was probably about 6:00 AM. I tried to bring up images (eyes closed) and interact worth them. This came in the dorm of fiddling with the settings on my phone. I set it to"dream" or something like that. I'm not sure if the dream continued after that. I don't remember. The other night I had read what Stephen LaBerge wrote about WILDs in his Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming:
"WILDs always happen in association with brief awakenings (sometimes only one or two seconds long) from and immediately return to REM sleep. The sleeper has a subjective impression of having been awake. "
My experience and what LaBerge describes seem to correspond. Now I get it.
