Is sleep paralysis possible while awake or not?

I posted a earlier thread about jerking awake while trying to induce SP, then hopefully the vibes. come,Then AP. I received a reply that it is impossible to induce SP while awake,that SP only comes on while in the REM or dream state,or obviously asleep. Now I'm confused. I read if you are tired and don't move a muscle your body will think you are asleep and go into SP. I dont want to waste my time trying to go into SP if its not possible. Have others out there gone into SP and were awake from the start? If so, how long does it take for SP to come on?.ive laid there for an hour and nothing!

It is possible to be conscious during sleep paralysis. It is easier to induce when your body is relaxed and tired. I recommend the Wake Back to Bed technique.
I associate it with a "lead chest" feeling, shallow breathing, slower heart rate, relaxed body and mind. When I force myself to move out of it, I get the urge to stretch :yawnorama:

When you go back to bed how long,roughly, does it take for SP to set in. As I said, I've laid there an hour and nothing, do you think I'm not tired enough?

SP (REM atonia) is a condition that our body starts after we start to dream. Not just fall asleep, but dream. Most of the population gets it like that. Some people with SP disorder may experience it out of order, before dreaming, and after waking up. Not all the time, but they are prone to it.

SP can not be induced at will. What we can experience after being still is normal sensations of our body getting relaxed and falling asleep.
