      Weird "Lucid" Experience

So last night I had something strange happen to me.

I remember waking up in the middle of the night randomly. I did an rc just to verify that it wasn't a FA, and sure enough, it wasn't.
I fell back asleep pretty quickly, but as I fell asleep I retained a bit of conciousness. From there I entered a dream, realized I was dreaming, and immediately woke up- this happened three times in a row. Each "lucid" dream only lasted for a few seconds before I realized I was dreaming and immediately woke up again. Each "dream" seemed to last about 3 seconds. After the third time this happened I just went to sleep normally, because I had no intention of becoming lucid like that to begin with.

Has this happpened to any of you guys before? And is this good or bad?

I'd say good because you sound very close. One thing to remember, try not to get too excited when you achieve lucidity. Even give yourself a mantra as you fall asleep-"I will stay calm." or something of the likes. Good job!

Thanks for replying. It was an odd experience, happened on a whim.

Does this actually count as lucidity?

I'd say your experience is a good sign. Keep up the good work!

Any time you know you're dreaming while you're dreaming it counts as lucidity.

Duuuud, you were lucid dreaming. To be more precise, you were WILDing!

That's how you do it. You fall asleep while retaining awareness. To wake up from a LD just seconds after you realize is very common. Excitement is the most common cause. Congrats

Something strange happened last night too..

So I had a normal dream that felt like real life. I got tired in the dream, and I went to sleep in my room- still inside the dream.

All of a sudden my state changes- im still in my room, but I remember to do an RC. I can breathe while pinching my nose, so i try to put my finger through my hand, and that works too.

That's when I realized I was lucid. I am conscious so I try to focus on something to make the dream clearer, since its kind of blury. I consciously make a decision of which object in my room to focus on. After that, I start playing guitar, but see that ny guitar is misshapen, and remember again that I am dreaming.

All of a sudden, lucidity is gone, and I'm back in my normal dream.

Was this lucid? Or were my complex thoughts an illusion of my mind?

Could have been a regular dream, in which you were thinking about lucidity. But if you at any time realized you are dreaming, then that part was lucid.

After we practice RCs, they may start showing up in our dreams. Sometimes, when we have anough awareness, they may help in getting lucid, or they comfirm lucidity. But sometimes we just do them, and they don't result in lucidity. It definitelly is a good sign. If you can, add some more awareness practice and when you examine your surroundings and you RC, believe, that you could be dreaming at that moment.

Btw, did you notice above, that you had a LD?

Thanks for all the help, Gab. I'm excited since those were my first two lucid dreams ever

During my dream last night, I remember actually having thoughts and thinking about what I should do once my first RC made me lucid. After I breathed through my pinched nose, I remember telling myself to try the finger through palm RC, which confirmed it for me. After that, wondered what I should do, and decided to try and look at the ground or focus on an object so it could be more vivid. After doing all of this, I remember thinking to myself "I should go out into the world ans see what my DCs have to say."

It may be far fetched, but I think I actually had an LD. What do you think?

I can't say for sure, sorry. But it sounds like great experience, either way.

I don't think I have ever made RC in a dream and not get lucid. But I have done things, that I call "lucid elements". Like thinking, deducting ideas, flying like I fly only in lucids, and other things.

For me, lucid is, when I think "finally, I'm lucid again" or "yes, I'm dreaming". Or something similar, that clearly states that I'm aware that I'm dreaming. It almost always comes with huge rush of excitement and otherworldly happiness. At the moment of realization, the environment changes for me. As if pre-realization I was just watching tv, and post-realization, I'm inside of the TV, in 3D environment. My senses change, I'm suddenly aware of my surroundings, I feel sunshine, rain, wind, I just feels like I'm there. I have eagle eyes vision, and I can change things just by thinking about changing them.

Of course, you can be lucid and not have such strong sensations. Or being able to change things. You can have different levels of awareness in a lucid dream. But as I said, for me, the excitement and acknowledging that I'm dreaming is the best indicator.

Sorry, if this didn't help much.

But just write it down in as much details as you can, and perhaps later on, based on your next experiences, you will be able to classify this experience too.

I understand what you mean used to happen a lot to me. Might be because you become too aware too fast which cause you to wake up. Act like you were high when stabilize dream worked for me. This happened accidentally for me and i had my longest lucid dream then i started to taking it chill when doing stabilize lucid dream. In the dream i wasnt myself did reality check hands looked like balloons i just said wooah this is dream took it chill and stabilized the dream.

Thanks for all the help guys. These last two nights have showed progress, at least, which is a good thing.

The dream was weird because once I realized I was lucid, I started to notice that my peripheral vision was blurry and when I tried to focus on a rubix cube in my room, the colors mixed up in front of my eyes. The same thing happened with my guitar, its shape changed and became weird. At first I didn't think much of it,but then I realized that I was still dreaming because its shape wasn't normal. I just really hope I actually was lucud, because I've been telling people about it all day.

I think it was a low level, because I was aware that it was a dream, but I wasn't excited about it at all.

What concerns me is the fact that became lucid when I went to sleep inside my dream, and I "woke up" and thought I was awake. Does this mean that I will have to dream about going to sleep and dreaming to ger lucid?

You say it twice that you realized you are dreaming. I would say that was a lucid. No matter what happened in it, or if you saw anything, or vision was blurry, or you had no controll at all, and even if it ended just after a second or two.

I had a period of time, when all I was doing was going to sleep in my dream and waking up either lucid, or I thought I was lucid, but actually I wasn't. I was even telling everybody in my dream "I'm going to take a nap now so I can be lucid". Then it stoped happening.

A "dream within a dream" is still just that one same dream. We probably don't dream in layers. So when we go to sleep in a dream and wake up into another dream, that's jsut that same dream, only with changed dreamscape and scenario. I think I just means, that in your waking life, you are thinking a lot about going to sleep to get lucid. But it's also possible, that you get lucid "when you wake up in your dream". But that's just a scenario your mind made up. Just a normal dream, in which you get lucid (DILD).

But it definitelly is a good thing. It reflects, that your mind is thinking about lucid dreaming too.
