PLEASE HELP ME: I'm Seriously Stuck

I seriously need with the WILD technique. I've been trying it and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. The tutorial I've been following is the video from the GizEdwards Youtube channel called, "Step By Step Guide to WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dream)."

I'm stuck on the step where he talks about keeping your arms above your head. Does it mean to keep your arms in the air, or just lay them down behind your head? I've been doing the latter and I don't feel a strong urge to drop my arms, which is why I feel stuck.

I've had only a handful of lucid dreams before, but never for more than a minute, never intentionally, or with control. I'm not a complete beginner at this, since I've been doing my reality checks, watching many videos and reading what books I can get. But I feel this is the best method for me to have my first real lucid dream because with the other techniques, I always have trouble falling back to sleep.

So, for those who have watched Giz Edward's video, please clarify that for me. I'm really tired of trying these things and not having any results. Thanks.

I'm sure he doesn't mean in the air, but really... it doesn't matter. A lot of people say you have to WILD on your back, and I never do. What you need, in order to have a WILD, is to stay aware while your body falls asleep. Sounds easy, but I have to tell you it probably isn't the best technique for a beginner. If you really want to do it, I recommend you do it during an afternoon nap.

But I think before you tire yourself out on WILDs, work on DEILDs instead. That is a much easier variation of WILD, and it will give you good practice. You start from a DILD, and when you wake up from that, lie perfectly still and glide right back into the dream. That's much easier than WILDing from a completely awake state. There are some good DEILD tutorials here if you want to try it.

Other than that, just work on your DILDs. Because once you have one, even if you get booted out after a minute, then you can start to DEILD, and you can make a whole chain of those, just repeating the process until you run out of REM or get too tired.

Thanks so much. It's reassuring to hear. I actually had one of those before I read about lucid dreaming. I kept going in and out of a nightmare where I told myself I could just wake up, fall back to sleep, and it would be gone. It really does work, but my biggest problem is falling back to sleep, because sometimes I'll be wide awake afterwards.

When waking yourself up from a lucid and wanting to re-enter try to remain calm so that you don't elevate your heart rate when you wake up and cause you to not be able to sleep. I am not a fan of being calm in the dream, but actually just the beginning and end. :D
