MAJOR problem with WILD and transitionings

I've tried way to long to experience a WILD, I know exactly how hard it is to go from the waking state into the dreamworld, but that's not the case. I simply can't asleep while lying on my back, I'm drifting close to sleep back and fourth, very relaxed, almost not feeling any parts of my body at all. But still, I have never even gotten close to feel the slightest of sensation of the buzzing, tingeling, and any other sensation that are related to a transition. Also; I've never fallen asleep on my back, I have to roll over to my side.

I read Thomas Yuschaks book, The Power Of Supplements, a couple of times and was hoping for some of the supplements to help me with this. It would help me a if I just could get to the part where you feel the sensations, and actually feel that I'm heading in the right directions.

What I usually do when I'm trying, sometimes after 4-5 hours of sleep, sometimes not.
Stretching for 5 to 10 min.
Relaxing before bed a while.
Lying on my back, completely relaxed, doing some exercises to relax me even more.
Waiting for about 20 to 30 min, (sometimes it gets unbearable to stay on my back, as I normally sleep on my side)
Thereafter I roll over to my side, waiting for any sensations to come. Sometimes I even stay relaxed on my back for hours, without moving at all - but it's completely black, I'm just having some random thoughts which I sometimes try to silent. And I end up lying there trying for an hour or two without being able to fall asleep.

So fellas, any idea? How do you do normally, what are you focusing your mind at and how long does it normally take for you to get near a transition?

Hey Matteftw, welcome to DV! :)

First of all, you don't have to sleep on your back in order to wild, you can do so in any position. It would be best to find a comfortable position and not move as much because you are in the end trying to fall asleep. If you don't fall asleep, no way to ld. Doing a wbtb after a good amount of sleep is quite conductive for a wild. Let's say you sleep for 4-6 hrs, wake up a bit, 10-30 mins depending on how much wakefulness you need. Then go back to bed and try to relax if you are too alert. You have to keep a minimal grain of awareness in order to transition. To do this, you may follow your breath, stare in darkness behind your eyelids, or just pay attention to the way your body is relaxing.

That being said, not everyone experiences the sensations that relate to wild, they may even vary each time for a single person. So, no need to wait for any tingling, vibrations etc as they may not come at all. You should allow yourself to fall asleep while keeping that minimum awareness, this is all that is required for a wild.

Finally, there is no need to jump to supplements, especially in the beginning and rely on them to induce any sensations or lucid dreams. Personally, depending on the strenght of supps (I consider Galantamine to be a strong supplement), it would be best to wait to acquire some experience with lding and possibly resort to strong supplements only after careful consideration.

Wild does take a bit longer to get the hang of, possibly because everyone is different and has to find their own way and style of doing it, so to speak. We have a great class on wilding here by the way, be sure to check it out for in depth explanations, tips, etc. Good luck! :)

Alright, makes sense. I'll try that out and I guess I have to experiment a little more after a couple of hours sleeping.
I do have one question about the supplements though. I've been doing research about LD's for almost 3 years, but unfortunately havn't had many. But I do know a lot about the subject, including most of the existing induction techniques and general stuff about lucid dreaming. The only thing that's lacking behind is my personal experience in having lucid dreams. In this case, would it be a bad choice to start of with the supplements? Will that somehow make my subconscious believe that if it works, that would be the only thing that works and will stop me from inducing ld's naturally? I'm just curious about what galantamine and other supps could do with my odds of experience more sensations that tells me i'm in the right direction!

Thanks for the clarification. I understand your curiosity and desire to try the supps. Because I don't know what exactly you have been doing so far as induction or your ld frequency and what tips to give to improve your practices without all the relevant info, it would be hard to give you a straightforward answer about taking supps and which supps. Also, effects of supps are very personal so some people may have success with a particular supp, while it may unsuitable for others.

What I'd recommend is to give it a bit of time when it comes to wild induction. You may consider enrolling in more than one of the classes we have in the dva. I already linked you above the threads for the WILD class by sageous, you can read the tutorials there and ask him in the Q&A section.

Okay okey..

Actually I've more or less been reading and studying the art of lucid dreaming instead of actually trying to induce one. (I have ofc several times kept a dream journal and done reality checks on a regular basis) but I haven't gotten very far, and since I never had a good dream recall and the RC's didn't work very well, I simply didn't bother trying to go to the next step - inducing. So, to summarize - I simply divided it all into smaller steps. I figured it would be easier if I could start with one thing and then head on to the next one. So I started off with aiming for a SP, and then head on. But as you probably understand by now I'm somewhat stuck :d

Maybe I'm just starting in the wrong direction, and maybe a DILD would suite me better? (Here comes my irritating lack of motivation, when it comes to the dream journal, doing RC's and so on.
But I'm definitely gonna check those classes out, thanks a lot for your help. Such a helpful community on this forum!

I think a lot of us have been there. In the beginning when I started with purposeful induction, it was more about wanting to have an ld than taking the steps to ld. And because I didn't see any quick results after the initial RCs, I was also frustrated - at that point I didn't do them on a too frequent basis either :P. Something similar with wilding even though I did have some unexpected wilds before trying to induce, I had problems with understanding what it is all about. But with more experience things become clearer about induction practices, how they really work and why we are doing this. Until we get things to finally click, a bit of faith may be required and trying out things, possibly receiving feedback and looking up things to see if one is indeed going in the right direction.

We usually recommend starting with dild and then moving to wild, possibly because it is easier to grasp conceptually and also the way to keep that awareness while transitioning may require more focus and training. Yet, I wouldn't encourage you to completely drop wilding, as I know how tempting it is for all of to try to have a ld from the waking state. I'd say keep a solid daytime practice - RCs, awareness, ADA, write down dream signs and then complement this with some more practices - MILD pre bed or wbtb or WILD when you feel like giving it a shot. Try to be consistent with your practices, and always have lucid dreaming on the back of your mind in the very minimum around and during bed time.

So, don't hesitate to include more than one practice and be sure to put your heart into it. Also, I strongly recommend doing wbtbs no matter what type of induction method you choose. Again, don't forget to focus on expecting an ld when doing so. This will increase your chances of having an ld.

Iv'e sorta had my lucid dream but in real life for the last 6 months of intense travel and adventures around the world!
This have given me lots of motivation and Im determined to deal with this from the start, thoroughly.
Im home in a couple of weeks and then it's game on!

Anyhow, wanted to thank y for the helpful answers, and as I said, those classes seem to be intresting;)
