      problem with wild

whenever it try wild i always end up getting nowhere. After a 5.5 hour wbtb I would lie in bed for at least 30 minuites completly relaxed. I do what all of the guides say like not to not expect sleep parlysis or any other crazy things that people say that happen with wild. However still after 30 minuites i dont get any sign that the technique is working. Not even the slightest HI. After this point I give up and just go to sleep or try a mild. Any advice on why my wilds never get anywhere would be appreciated.

^^ If your head's in the right place, and you're working through the process properly, then the next step may be to try to hold your focus, interest, and patience for longer than 30 minutes. That's it! Just hang in there a little longer:

There is generally about a 90-minute window (including WBTB time) available for you to fall asleep and still catch a REM period from your night's sleep cycle, though I've managed many WILD's after waiting as long as two hours. So you might simply not be giving yourself enough time to go back to sleep.

I suggest you try a few WILD's for up to an hour before giving up; and even if you give up, be sure to go to sleep anyway if you can, because your efforts might yield you a DILD. If you're still having no success at all, you might then want to revisit your mindset and technique to see if something's missing.

Just remember that WILD is above all a game of patience; sometimes you just have to give it a little more.

I'd like to add too that WILD can be exciting when you're a beginner because it's new and interesting and exciting and cool etc. The excitment makes it harder to fall asleep, so once you'll get used to it, this excitement problem would fade away.

I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

I'll bet you fell asleep almost instantly as soon as you "gave up," right? Well, you need to memorize that "gave up, go to sleep" mindset and fool yourself perhaps a little bit that you are indeed heading right for sleep, in order to get closer to the transition to sleep before trying to start holding on to awareness.

I see learning to WILD (which I still am after 1.5 years, but admittedly my attempts are fairly far apart) as a series of damped oscillations: since you appear to be in the "stays awake a long time" camp (as opposed to "falls asleep immediately, unconsciously camp, which I'd much prefer to be in"), you should initially overshoot aiming for sleep at first. Then if you do indeed fall asleep unconsciously, next time, aim a little less on the side of sleep. If you stay awake for hours, then that's too much awareness, next time, average the previous two attempts, and so on. You're performing a series of experiments trying to zero in on the exact balance of awareness needed.

Just remember: in order to WILD, you must fall asleep. That thought may help you in finding your balance.
