Whould this be considered a WILD?

So, I've been trying this out; when I am tired, I will try to "observe" my thoughts and the pale green images floating around my closed eyes. When I observe my thoughts, I mean not thinking, but listening to random phrases in my head and not focusing on them. After a while of doing this I can fall into a dream, but I am not sure how I still be aware without thinking.

Any suggestions for WILDs or DILDs? Whenever I am DILDing, I am instantly aware that I am dreaming without RC.

It's called the default mode network You're doing it absolutely right, the WILD method has nothing to do with focus, but with simple relaxation coupled with minimal awareness, which seems exactly what you're doing! Now that you made me think about it, I think I know my WILD will succeed when I'm "beyond words and beyond thought" ^^

What do you feel needs improvement? Regarding WILD, one of the most helpful things to master is timing: knowing when and if to perform WILD can maximize the quality of your nights while maximizing your chances to lucid dream. For this, a consistent sleep schedule and loads of trial and error will make it more an art than a science.
Regarding DILD, skipping this concept of reality check won't harm you at all, many (if not most) of the times our RCs are actually performed unconsciously, just like you tend to cower when you hear a loud bang. Regarding this method, the first and most important notion to hold is the realization that you might be dreaming at any given moment (yes, including this very moment...and this one....and this one too!). Live your life as you'd live a dream: perceive everything, absorb everything, question everything.

Trying out MILD? This is how you become skilled at it.

I feel like I need to improve with maintaining my awareness, because when I am aware, I end up thinking about what I could be doing in a dream or how aware I am.

I do try to question things, should I remember to do so. I don't know why, but if I think that I am under the Imperius (Mind controlling) curse from Harry Potter, I tend to question things in my dreams more often! Thanks for responding - I will try harder to remember that I could be in a dream this very moment!

      Or now,

      Or now! :O

Edit: When I daydream right before bed (also, I am a very good visualizer), I can almost SEE my thoughts - sometimes I do, but when I become so focused in my imagination, I may become aware again or move my eyes and lose that visualization. Is it bad to lose my visualization?
