Anchors for WILD
Hello all,
I'm a bit frustrated here. I learned about lucid dreaming a couple years back, and have yet to have a lucid dream still. I have tried MILD, WBTB, and WILD. WILD seems the most intriguing to me, and has therefore been the technique I have been practicing. The only problem I seem to have is MAINTAINING MY AWARENESS as I drift off to sleep. I was just curious as to the anchors you all use. Personally, I have tried listening to music, counting, visualizing various scenarios in my head, and even wearing socks (I never wear socks) to bed, and I was looking for some other ideas.

It seams that mantras are effective for most of people who can successfully WILD.
The meaning of the mantra seams important, as it is not supposed to keep you absolutely focused but just as a kind of security string that automatically brings your awareness back when it goes to far away.
Staying to actively focused seams to keep you from falling asleep and you finally don't WILD.
I trying many "focus" anchors, but I only reach the WILD window when it comes more passively.
I think the most important thing for WILD is to be conscious at a certain moment: the REM onset, and it is very short.
So if you manage to let your consciousness drift of a bit during N-REM stages (after WBTB) and to automatically (or helped with some external technology ) bring your awareness back when REM starts, it become easy to WILD.

My anchor is a point of awareness right in between waking and sleeping. It is hard to explain, but it is something that I felt from DEILDing after lucid dreams, so I knew it could be done.
Generally when practicing lding, it is good to have DILDs so that you can know what you are aiming for in WILDs. Here is a thread I made for people that are working on LDing and either just started or haven't had much success.

And another thread that is similar, but not podcast.

I've also found that mantras work pretty well.
