What made you guys learn to WILD than to take the beginners route by doing DILD or MILD?
I didn't chose WILD. WILD chose ME : D
I think most of the people did start with DILD and MILD and added WILD a bit later. And those that started with WILD, they most likely turned to DILDs and MILDs after not being successful with WILDs.
I am not saying it's not possible to have a WILD without prior DILDs. It's possible ofc, either with training or by happy accident.
But the WILD is much more about state of mind than any step-by-step technique or process. And that state of mind, plus RCs, mantras, setting intent is what DILD will teach us.
Both, WILDing and DILDing are wonderful, for their own uniqueness. WILDs for some cool transitions you can get and for going straight from being awake to being aware in a dream. DILDs for the awesome surprise you can get when you realize you are dreaming.
Even if now my primary "methods" are WILD and DEILD, I still practice and hope for DILDs, as that helps with getting a WILD as well.
Oh, and it may also depend on your lifestyle. If you don't have time for WBTB or morning naps which are best for WILDs, then DILD is the way to go.
I tried WILDs as a beginner because it seemed like the easier way - in theory you just carry the awareness from waking life, so no need to practice more time consuming things (during daytime, at least)... However, I quickly found out that DILDish things (matras, RCs, awareness) help me getting far more consistent results. It's not that I don't like WILD, but I like it for different reasons - I like how much it increases my chances to have DILDs, and I also like it for the HI and HH that it lets you feel - sensations that I find really interesting on their own (despite not being "lucid" when they happen, the transitions awareness is still interesting).
So I personally find that it's best to combine different techniques - and it's best not to expect one thing to be the "right" or "easy" way to have LDs.
For me, as a newbie I have a little experince when it comes to meditation. I like the way WILDs sound, I like the thought of learning to watch myself sleep. I'm so interested in the thought of someone retaining there awareness while there body sleeps, it's absolutely fascinating! It seems like a more fun way to LD!
because DILD never worked for me
