Is it a WILD of it seems like i lose consciousness before entering pre-dream?

I've had some success with what I have attempted as a WILD. For me, it seems to work best after a full night's sleep. 7-8 hours. Then, I take 1.5 hour nap-meditation to essentially meditate until my body falls asleep. It seems like i enter something like light sleep, as time goes by fairly quickly, and an hour and a half seems to go by in 20, 30 minutes. Then, I wake up just as my body begins to vibrate and move around and shit. I have used this two times to lift myself out of my body and into a dream world, as I find it difficult to hold on until an actual dream forms.

So. Would this be a WILD?

Yes, this would be a WILD. For a WILD, you have to be conscious and lucid during the transition into the dream, but not before it.

If you lose consciousness at some point during the process, it might be a matter of opinion whether it qualifies as a “true” WILD. But in any case, I'd say that having an LD is what matters, and not whether or not the WILD was “perfect”. Having the right mindset and presence of self-awareness during a WILD will often result in a LD of some sort even if you do briefly fall asleep or otherwise lose consciousness at some point in the process.

As an example, I don't currently often try specifically for WILDs, but there are occasions where I'll just kind of randomly “wake up” during light NREM or shortly after drifting off. I may not necessarily have been awake from the very beginning (and indeed in many cases it's hard to tell for sure whether I was, anyway), but it doesn't really seem to matter: When I do happen to stay conscious and work my way into REM and a LD, the end result is pretty much equivalent to having done a “full” WILD.
