Making the dive - issues with transitioning

Hi guys, I've decided I'm dedicating myself to the WILD method for the foreseeable future. I've learnt a few additional things about it the last few days and I feel like I'm getting closer.

However, when I tried today - and this has happened before too - I couldn't make it past the transition into sleep. As soon as my body (I think) reached sleep, a tingling spread over my entire body. My heart raced, and I think it was a physical reaction more than excitement. I say this because that too has happened before, and I made active efforts to stay calm this time, knowing what was coming. After this tingling and my heart racing (but no insane g forces etc like some people describe) I felt really awake, and I felt like nothing else would happen. I laid there for a bit longer and eventually rolled over and fell back asleep.

So my questions are as follows:

      1. When successfully WILDing, is it common to feel wide awake after pulling it off?
      2. Could that mean I was actually dreaming but dreaming about being in bed?
      3. What is a good tentative method to test for a dream state without disrupting my WILD attempt if I'm not there yet?
      4. How do I get past this transitional phase to start entering lucid dreams?

I feel like I'm so close. It feels like there's just something I'm missing, one thing keeping me from WILDing. Until I find it, I'll keep trying!

You're not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Just relax. Master the day. Then just keep doing that every day.

      1: I think so.

2: It is possible you may have dreamt about failing at WILD. But idk... I can always tell when the transition is over even though the dream starts in my bed.

I think what is more likely is that you woke up by whatever caused you heart to race...

3: I just know, I tend to do an ordinary breathing through nose test anyway. But if it's a WILD I always know. I can't remember if I could always tell, or if I recognize the difference from experience though.

Edit: Should mention that my WILD transitions are often completely mental. There is an "entity" that tries to stop me from succeding by trying to scare me, threaten me in a spooky language I don't understand, grab me, shake me, make freaky noises, and sometimes inflict quite powerful physical pain in different ways. And thats in adition to all the usual stuff, feeling like I'm getting spun around by my legs with only my face attached to the ground and stuff.... So it's pretty wild. Almost never manage to stop me though. I'm a beast at staying calm.

4: you need to find out a way to keep not just your mind but your body relaxed. Even if you didn't feel excited your body definitely was. If you tell us more, maybe somebody can give you some good ideas.

it is possible you´ve been already there. you need a motionless RC. A good think is "rolling out of bed" or phantom limb movement. imagine vividly how you move an arm or your upper body or your whole body. you even can move in an impossible way like move your arm or your fingers in the opposite way they can move. if its working you are already dreaming.

i know the feeling of oh damn now i lie here around wide awake but acutally want to lucid dream. oh wait i can breath thru my closed nose so i am dreaming already?! woot? test 5 different ways to be sure and jump out of the window

I just got an idea for a good way to do reality checks without moving. Just use some telekinesis. You could for example lie completely still and knock something off your nightstand and onto the floor with your mind.

I still have this happen to me from time to time.

To deal with any uncertainty, my goto RC to test my dreaming state is to close my mouth and blow. If I breathe through my lips, I'm dreaming. If my breath catches and my cheeks expand, I'm still awake. Works on similar principles to the nosepinch RC--using your connection to your physical body to test your state--but doesn't require any actual movement so it will let you calmly continue your attempt.

Hope this little piece of tech helps you a bit. <3

I had this exact thing happen to me last night! When I look back I feel it is possible I was dreaming at certain points to an extent, as I was visualizing some weird things. But I always felt awake at the end of it. The entire body tingling happened and my heart would race each time. I felt so close, but it would then slip away. I am going to try and use these techniques like the motionless RCs as well as attempting to roll out of my body. I suppose it just takes time to become finely attuned to how these things work.
