Has anyone used singing as an anchor while WILDing or DEILDing ?
How would that work?
If you mean singing out loud I can not picture it. If you mean singing inside your own head then yes. It is basically the same as using a mantra. Keep it short and easy.
Singing can be thought of as a type of breathing. It is easier to simply breathe than it is to sing. I'm sure some have had successfully used their breath as an anchor for WILD. Try doing this instead. Like sivason says, keep it short and easy.
I could see singing (in your head) as an anchor. But if the song is long or words are difficult, or the song is not dreaming related, it may keep your focus on a wrong thing. Singing. You want to keep your focus on what you are doing. Which is falling asleep. If the "song" is more like a short, rhyming mantra or a chant, with simple words that remind you what you are doing, then yes.
My mantra or chant is I'm dreaming. Keeps my mind occupied just enough to not fall asleep too soon, while reminds me what I'm doing - sleeping and dreaming.
Here is one song I have often used to WILD. It is short and silly, but meets all the things Gab mentions. I took the general rhythm of "Row, row, row your boat" and changed the words like this, "Dream, dream, dream, the dream, gently as I dream, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream."
