Can't stay aware
That's it. While attempting WILD, I can't stay aware long enough to get into a dream. Everytime I attempt a WILD I just end up falling asleep. I have a mantra. Maybe I'm not staying up for long enough, because I do mainly go back to sleep after I awaken pretty quickly, but other than that, I don't know how I could Improve my technique.

Some individuals have more success with certain techniques..I doubt this applies to everyone. If your extremely persistent (I'd guess weeks) and nothing happens, why not explore something else? For me keeping a journal (using mantra before sleep) usually works (experiencing dream initiated lucid dream) in about two weeks. There's still no set induction method that's universally accepted. Again (if your not already) keeping a journal (in my opinion) it drastically improves dream recall (increases ur odds) I dont see many argue against it. I'm not sure if you've (judging by number of posts) experienced one single lucid dream yet however if not aware it could take weeks/months. Anyway other members will probably add suggestions soon..good luck.

Thanks for your reply!
I have had around 7 ld's now but they've all been fragments, meaning the moment I realize I'm dreaming, I'm awake. Sometimes I wake up a couple seconds before I realize it , but most if the time it happens the exact frame I realize and I'm instantly awoken and have no time to react. It is annoying but yeah.
I do have a DJ and my recall is pretty good. I'm also training my prospective memory. I think I figured out my issue though.

I think you have exactly what it takes to achieve a WILD. It's great that you are using a mantra but in the end it is the consciousness that needs to be held intact before you transition in to a dream. I feel you maybe too relax which isn't a bad thing but you need something to keep your mind focus while your body falls asleep. Maybe start thinking as you lay there what you see yourself doing or experiments you will soon be doing as you start the transition. Keeping your mind focus while looking forward to the transition should provide a great combination in helping you remain awake. Allow idea's to naturally come in with out any true mental effort in order to keep yourself in a relax state to fall back asleep. This should help you reach the next stages of WILD so that you can be awake to experience them.
Also through achieving your first WILD you may begin finding natural success in longer DILD's.

To keep my mind focused was the entire reason I employed a mantra.
What I think I'll do is try SSILD and see how that works.

Trying SSILD is a good idea in my opinion; falling asleep right after finishing the cycles is normally desired here.
Though it's not meant this way, I had my first lucid dream by (accidentally) combining SSILD with WILD. And it's still a very reliable technique for me.
Just don't forget to always RC upon waking up afterwards as it often causes false awakenings.
Good luck!

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
I've been trying to make rc after awakening a habit but I can never seem to remember... I'll try super hard though!
