WILD method is giving me an stroke (A more detailed report)

      Preface:
Copy from a post on reddit where I got no comments so I took it here hoping I'd get some assistance.

After months of research on myself and my own sleep cycle patterns, I've devised a plan for attaining lucidity using the WILD method and WILD techniques such as SSILD.

I boiled possible error points down to 4 places:
      1. When I go to sleep (9:45pm-10:30pm)
      2. When I wake up (WBTB) (4am)
      3. How long do I stay up (3 - 10 minutes; longer and I risk not going to sleep for an hour)
      4. What technique to perform (??)

Pretty basic stuff that most people can find out after a bit of research.

When I tried using the WILD method initially, I thought it wasn't for me because I could never get back to sleep. I later realized that It was because I woke up too late in my cycle, so i adjusted around 30 minutes earlier and now I have no issue getting to sleep.

      Issue - Awareness Maintenance

My new problem is staying awake/aware long enough to notice the transition. 99% of the time I fall asleep, which is what happened last night. The technique that I'm using is SSILD. I've used the OG form and the simplified form to no avail, but SSILD is the thing that got me closest to success a while back; a success I haven't been able to emulate. It's kind of quiet in my room, aside from the fan, so there's little to latch onto for sound. For sight, the phosphenes don't show up until hypnagogia, so it's also kinda empty. That just leaves touch, but again, the odd sensations like rolling and things don't appear until hypnagogia. Because of this, one would think, "Wait until hypnagogia" but that is when I fall asleep. It's when I get here that everything falls apart.

I've tried CANWILD, but my heart starts beating uncontrollably fast when I successfully wake up without moving. It ruins the attempt as it shocks my body awake. I try thinking of calming down but that only seems to worsen the issue, and I meditate, so I'm not sure what I can do as far as this technique.
This leaves the only other active WILD techniques I know of, FILD, and its sister technique, TILD. These don't work for me. both feel unnatural and I fall asleep while doing them. Then there's CILD, but I haven't had much success, but I haven't tried it in a long time so it's an option, I suppose.

      TL;DR

I'd like some advice for staying aware during the transition from wakefulness to a dream, and the only option I can think of is CILD. If you have any other WILD techniques, please share them with me.

      Extra Info:

Today marks the 140th day of consistent LD practice, or 4 months, 17 days. I've been doing research and on and off attempts for 10 years.

I also do supplementary stuff like keeping a DJ, Meditation, MILD, Prospective Memory training, RC, etc. I've had 7 LDs so far, all being fragments, meaning the literal exact second I figure out I'm dreaming, I wake up. It happens before i can even react to the news and it's annoying. 6/7 have been attained using DILD techniques, but I wanted to try WILD things now that I figured out why I couldn't go to sleep. I fixed that, and now I'm here.

I'll only comment on the SSILD part as that's my primary, reliable technique to LD:

Reading your post it seems that you try to use SSILD to WILD directly. While that's of course possible (e.g. I've done it twice), the initial idea is to fall asleep after performing the cycles. Later on you'll have good chances for DILDs (randomly or through FAs) and DEILDs. It might be easier to try this aproach. For me it definitely is; it doesn't even matter when exactly I do the SSILD cycles (obviously not before sleep), I'll just go lucid the one way or the other some time afterwards.

I'd also like to suggest that you change your focus a little bit when doing the cycles. In my experience it's more like focusing on the sensation of seeing/hearing/feeling itself than on what you're actually perceiving with any of those senses. So, you don't need to watch out for anything unusual or anything at all to notice. Have you read the SSILD tutorial here on DreamViews?

Anyway, I admire your determination. You really want to lucid dream, right?

      Thank you for your response!
I have not looked at the SSILD tutorial here on dv so i'll do that. I'll also try changing my mindset on ssild as you suggested.
I'm only so determined because I could really spend all day just imagining what I could do within a dream and how I can use them to better my life and the lives of others! anyways, thanks again!
