I also think you just didn't remember shutting it off.
It's a fairly common thing: Since your action occurred when you were mostly asleep, you probably just went about the business of turning the alarm off without remembering why it needed to be on in the first place, and the event wasn't recorded in your memory.
A possible solution to this might be setting an intention at night that you will wake up enough to do a WBTB next time you hear the alarm.
Another solution, and one I personally like better, is to do your WBTB without an alarm. You tend to awaken several times during the night, whether you know it or not (like your trip to the alarm, these awakenings aren't usually stored in memory), and these awakenings happen more often after several hours' sleep. So, with a little practice, and maybe a little intention-setting, you can learn to get up without an alarm. This in my mind is a better course anyway, since alarms -- when they work -- tend to waken you too much, and make maintaining a dreamy state of mind during WBTB and getting back to sleep a little harder.
