WILD by tactile hypnagogia?

So, I've been messing around with WILD for quite a while now and it seems I've trained my hypnagogia, more specific tactile hypnagogia. It gets really really intense but I'm not sure if it can be useful.

You see, I can control it to some extent, I can "burst" to make it more intense for a while or move it through different parts of my body. I could probably learn to control it even more.

Now, regular WILD obviously isn't possible with this since it requires lots of active thinking and thelike but maybe I could force a dream with it somehow? Any ideas or someone that specifically does this would be amazing!

I can't give much advice on WILD exactly as I haven't really had success with any WILD techniques myself, but considering what you're saying, you could possibly use this to go into a visualisation/daydream experience all the same. For me, this type of experience doesn't have visuals as clear as actually dreaming but considering that you're possibly doing this in bed, if you could get yourself into this type of state you might be able to eventually slip into sleep or a dream anyhow.

I don't think WILDs require a lot of active thinking. It's more like a delicate touch. You want to separate yourself into a dream body by gently interacting with the dream as it coalesces around you. You definitely DON'T want to force it. That will only backfire. Let it happen to you.

Great job on interacting with hynogogia. That's a hard skill. If you'd like to share some pointers on how you got to that point, I'd be interested in reading that.

Quite so and even for visualisation/daydreaming, the case is the same, I feel. Forced thought, feeling or imagery might not tend to work very well (I don't believe it's impossible, but I'd consider it undesirable as an initial approach) because it can be underlined by an impatient intent, which I think underlines a lot of more forceful thoughts. In a way, I guess it's like that all those tropes about releasing pressure rather than applying it, in order to progress in a specific challenge that cannot be completed by continually applying pressure.

Approaches of suggestion, which involve a more questioning intent in the sense of "what if?" distinct from a sense of "I want" for example, may generally work better as initial approaches because they're not forceful and can lead to the same desired results.

It depends on if you are still aware of your body. You may be fully asleep and then you can more actively engage the mind. Hold off if you clearly are part awake in the body. Go to the Dream Yoga link in my sig. Read up on tactile visualization. You total can learn to create a lucid dream using this approach. I tend to create tactile versions of arms and hands and slowly just convince my self they are real. Soon they are and a full dream body is not far behind.

Yeah, hence why I said that regular WILD isn't possible with it, but maybe it could be used to force the dream system to kick in or something

And as for the interacting, it just took a long long while messing around with them

The tactile visualization would be overrun by the tactile hypnagogia though

My experiences with WILD have been that I have a lot more success when I just ride with whatever sensations arise, keeping my focus solely on maintaining awareness. As far as tactile, that would be vibrations and sometimes a sharp pain in my left side. There's really no need to force anything because if you are experiencing hypnogogic sensations to that degree, it's a matter of time before you're in a dream. It will happen whether you force it or not. If it doesn't, I would think you're not deep enough in, and you need to work on more relaxation techniques (opposite of active thinking). What's important is to maintain awareness, and not interact too forcefully with the dream - that often causes it to disappear. Although, it will usually reappear within a few minutes.

I'm not an expert on this (sivason certainly is). But anyways, good luck. You can certainly try your ideas out and report back with what happens. Who knows?

I've actually tried that a lot, just doing a relaxation tech and then passively observing the tactile hypnagogia but I've never once fallen asleep when doing so even when trying for extended periods of time.
