WILD doesn't work for me
I keep trying to do the WILD technique. I can feel my body going numb with a weight over my being. I also do the counting thing: "1, I'm dreaming, 2, I'm dreaming, 3 I'm dreaming etc.). I got to 750 last night and then the next thing I knew I was awake, tossing and turning in my bed and scrambling to commit the dream I just had to long term memory.
There was no transition. I can remember getting up there with the numbers and then all of a sudden I'm awake again. I'm ever so pissed.
My dreams are also recalled minutes after I awake. Everyone always says to not move and talk yourself through the dream before you forget it. I'm the opposite. I forget the dream the minute I wake up, and as I sit there it comes back to me and I try to remember it. Perhaps this is why I remember most of my dreams throughout my life.
So my dream recall is excellent, yet I forget to do reality checks in them, and WILD won't work. Any other suggestions?

Yes, some ideas concerning your current methods. If you plan to WILD, it's recommended that you wake up before the REM period, not move and then proceed with the counting. If all is done correctly and your eyelids are closed, you should see patterns before your eyes and as you continue being aware and watch these patterns, dream scenes will slowly form and eventually, you'll be sucked into one fully conscious during the transition. From what I've heard, it's the most amazing transition ever, due first to SP where you can get some fun but also scary hallucinations and second, just getting sucked into a dream. I know that what they speak of is true, because, once I awoke in the middle of the night with an alarm and then as I slipped back into sleep, I remember seeing those patterns exactly as they have been described. Unfortunately, I fell asleep and missed my change :(
As for RC, my advice is simple. Just do them whenever you remember. If you have a dreamsign, then do them everytime you see a dreamsign. In my case, when I first started practicing RCs, I did them whenever I remembered, something along the lines of 10-20 a day. I also tried WILDing before bed which resulted in some heaviness, numbness, etc.... but couldn't get to full SP. After two days of intense practice, I stopped to rest for a couple and had an accidential LD which was a DILD. While I didn't have to do an RC(I just realized I was dreaming, not sure why), I still did one and ignored the results because they were somewhat inconclusive :P Anyways, just keeping RCing whenever you remember, or when you see a dreamsign and think about lucid dreaming before bed. Eventually, you'll have one but it will be short, so, don't be disappointed. Mine probably lasted less than a minute, I would say around 20-30seconds or so :P

Like bigfan said...read through your dream journal...and try to find out what your dream signs are.
It also sounds like you're letting failure get the best of you. Try a carefree and confident approach to it. During that day tell yourself that you're going to WILD....if it doesn't happen...don't stress it. Try it again or just go to sleep. A lot of times I'll end up having a dream induced lucid because mid-dream I'll realize what I was doing a couple of minutes ago.
Also it helps to try them on days off...so you're not thinking about work/schoo/important places to be or whatever. Most of my WILDs have been on days off.
To sum it up...stay positive, stay confident, and relax...if it doesn't work there's alway another day. I've been working on them for close to three years now, and it's still not guaranteed, but it still helps my lucid process.

Same thing happens with me, mate. Only difference is, i count to 350 and then I get the restlessness but it would seem you are FAR more disciplined. I just keep trying and I guess that's all I can do.

But dedication can sometimes overdo it. Every time I think I'm entering sleep paralysis I get so excited my heart starts to race, and then I sit there for a while before it starts again.
On the other hand, dedication is nice because I've been doing this for about a week now and had my first lucid dream last night (short, but still).
I think about this all the time, so my subconscious is finally "catching the drift".
I own it, it doesn't own me. It's about time I started dreaming how I want damnit!
Good luck to you.

Stay on topic, guys...
If WILD doesn't work, then just try something easier! WILD has always been a more advanced technique, not at all suited for beginners, imo.
