      W.I.L.D. Discovery

I just made a great discovery on WILD.

      This is what happened:
I came home from church. I was a little tired so I decided to try and WILD.
So I went to my bed, took a comfty posture and tried to relax. I relaxed more and more, and I started to go numb. I got frustrated so I rolled over to my back. I kept my eyes closed and I started hitting my palm in frustration. I did that for about 2-3mins(weird) and then I just stopped. I wasn´t trying to WILD, nor thinking of just falling asleep. I just laid there. Then I started having the "BEEEEP" sensation that I get before SP. I also started hearing some sounds.

      So in a nutshell:
I relaxed and tried to WILD, which gave no results. After rolling over and doing lots of physical movement, and then just stopping I started getting SP in prolly a minute.

This confuses me. Why did I get SP sensations after I stopped WILDing, and after I had done a great deal of movement? And could I use this to WILD?

      Unfortunately, this is not new.

You accidentally did the stop, drop and roll technique.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb8eGsu_nX4

I have also accidentally done this too. I was trying to induce SP on my side, after a while I gave up and rolled onto my back. Next thing I know, I was in deep SP.

I believe he's basically saying that instead of just laying there and waiting for sleep as you visualize you are bypassing a large part of the preperation for sleep. So, instead of your body calling the shots he says that you're in charge, I guess. If he's right, his method simply tricking the body to get to a point whereby sleep is only minutes away which would mean if you were to do your visualization then you might enter a WILD.

Interesting video, thanks for the link!

The stop, drop and roll tech is simple. I´m not gonna go into depth with it but:
It basically keeps the roll over singal as low as possible, by lowering it every time you move. But the moves won´t hurt your relaxation, so in the end you´ll be able to enter SP with lower roll over signal than normally.
Watch all of his videos if you don´t know what the roll over signal means.

Ghost94, last night I got really far into a WILD by only doing the stop and drop part of this. It worked really well too! I had slight vibrations, noises but failed to disconnect my dream body.

Still, I feel damn good about that

I tried it after watching the vid a wee while back.
      It seems to work.

Thinking about it, most of my succesful wilds have happened not long after I've kinda given up rolled over and decided just to go to sleep.

      Theres something in the technique.

      hmmm...

ummm...can someone please () go a bit more in depth as to how you fool your body's roll reflex? and how does the swallowing reflex fit into this method? thanks.

Yea, the roll part is kinda optional.

I think why this works is because your body needs to be relaxed in order to fall asleep. If you roll around a lot and make your body exhausted, it's much easier to fall asleep as your body will relax automatically as a reflex after exhaustion.

      Thats not it at all.

The urge to roll is a test reflex. If you roll the body decides you're almost asleep, so tests again shortly after.

If you don't move the second time, hey presto, say hello to sleep paralysis.

From what I understand its not strictly neccesary.
But if your initially on you'er back and roll onto your side, your actually relaxing your body even further and bringing yourself closer to SP.

All of my wilds have been on my side.

So basically if you just do the stop an drop and ignore the urge to roll over (Roll) its the same as a normal WILD? (laying still until you get an urge to move/ignoring said urge and falling into SP) the only difference is that the roll part makes i easier to relax thus easier to fall into SP? Hope im getting this

Pretty much. I personally feel that the final roll makes a bit difference.

Well, to fool the Roll Reflex you just ignore it and don't roll (and don't move at all) - then, your body "thinks" that the mind is asleep and starts the SP.
It's ok to swallow, and also to move your facial muscles, as they don't get paralyzed when you sleep....

personally - I NEVER get SP, no matter what I do.....

to be honest, i never get an urgre to roll over, but i do get itches.

i find it easier to concentrate while laying on my back, and i find it easier to go to sleep normaly when im on my side.
so i will lay on my side to relax, then after a while, when im near sleep, i will roll onto my back and visualise.

i think the key is to analyse all these different techniques, try them, and create your own from them.
remember, everyone is different, there is no 'universal' lucid induction technique

      good luck

That video.. I can almost WILD before I go to sleep. My ear starts ringing and It feels like I am spinning, I just need to keep my heart rate down.

Thank you for making this thread.

Edit: I don't actually roll over but I relax my body when I put my hands above my head. Then I get a major itch for about 3 seconds. When it dissipates I start spinning.
