A few quick questions...
Just wondering about the following:
-When WILDing, is it common to feel a need to open the eyes just a little bit? If so, should one give in to the need? I tend to think to hard about it and lose my concentration on the dream
-For some reason, swallowing and breathing tend to give me problems. I end up concsiously controlling them, and I think it might be harshing my dream mellow:roll:
-Does the HI include a sensation of falling, or is that what the experts call a Mild Hypnagogic Twitch?
-(Last one, I promise) Is it possible that having a fan or a radio on in the room could decrease the chances of being able to successfully WILD? I've conquered my pathetic fear of the noises  but I just want to know if the fan might be distracting my (sub)concsious?
Thanks, even if you can't answer and are only here to loiter:D

a few quick answers
i used to have the same problems so let me see if i can tackle these a bit:
- id imagine that if your eyes want to naturally open, its possibly because your not tired enough to fall asleep to begin with. i used to try sleeping masks to force my eyes closed but all they did was force them closed, did not relieve the tension.
- do they give you trouble in the WILD itself or in the induction stage? if in the induction stage, you might want to try one of those relaxation techniques where you focus on points on your body (the name of it slips my mind).
- i usually only get a falling sensation when i am really exhausted, at which point im generally too tired to try WILDing anyway. i hear though that you can simulate that sinking feeling using that same relaxation technique. sorry not much help there.
- background nose like a fan probably shouldn't distract you, but personally i can't do anything with a radio or music playing, it blows my concentration.
hope that was at least a little helpful
