Help with WILD
I decided to try giving WILD a serious try last night after reading a tutorial on here (by Billybob). I set my alarm for 6hrs after I went to sleep. I woke about an hour before my alarm after a dream (annoyingly I could only remember one thing about the dream it felt like if I could just remember another detail the whole dream would come flooding back to me).
I stayed up for a bit then went back to bed. I was concentrating on my breathing counting on the in breath and thinking 'Im dreaming' on the out. After I got to about 500 I was seeing a yellowish light in the corner of one of my eyes that flashed on and off every second or so. When I got to 900 I could see a white rectangle in the middle of a sea of black. It almost felt like I had one my eyes slightly open and the white square was some light coming in (but it was too well defined for that I think).
Does this sound like it might be the beginnings of HI? Also no matter how much I concentrate on the counting and breathing I still always have other thought process going on in my head will that affect WILD?
Something caused me to open my eyes around 960 so I just went back to sleep normally. I'm going to give it another try tonight
One more question I was wondering about was in Billybobs tutorial it says to lie on your back (I didn’t I just used my normal sleeping position) is this necessary?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

Yes that was the beginning of HI. And no you can WILD in any position you like but most recommend lying on your back, something to do with SP.

Wow, 960 breathes...thats a long time. As for the sleep position, as long as you are comfortable, it doesn't matter what position you are in. I like to just let my mind wonder and passively observe/think about any thoughts that come to mind. Remember, you are suppose to fall asleep, but fall asleep consciously. Allow your body to relax and stay as calm as possible.
The problem may be that you are focusing/concentrating too much on the counting aspect of your WILD process. All the counting is supposed to do is keep your mind aware enough as you drift of to sleep. If you focus too much on the counting you will have a tough time succeeding. You will keep yourself too awake and it'll be very difficult to fall asleep period. Good Luck to you!

thansk for the advice guys will put it to good use tonight when i try wild again.

You don't have to lie on your back. I like to start on my back to relax and clear my mind, then roll onto my normal sleeping position to finish up. It sounds like your mind is racing too much. You should be so relaxed and tired, you are keeping yourself from falling asleep. Try moving your WILD to earlier in the night so you are more tired. Try somewhere around 3 hours after you fall asleep. I find it is easier to have a successful WILD this early in the night, even though it may not last as long.
If your mind is still racing, no matter what you do, try a little trick. I like to use reverse blinking. You close your eyes, and breathe normally. Count every breath on the exhale. As you count, blink your eyes open and shut again quickly. Do it fast, without really looking at anything. Just like normal blinking, only in reverse. This makes me super tired, and launches me into a trance-like state quickly. From there, you are pretty much just waiting for a dream to start. Just hover in that trance state on the border of sleep, and wait for some trippy shit to happen.

Hi Robot_Butler, Thanks for your advice. I thin you're onto something there when you say my mind is racing. Its like everytime I am falling asleep my I get excited thinking somethings going to happen and wake myself up again. I tried again last night and think i got close I was seeing some weird stuff but didnt quite fall asleep.
Not concentrating on the counting so much worked too.
Im going to try again tonight.
