I'm going to try wilding tonight.

I haven't had a lucid dream in a very long time... probably a couple of months, so I'm getting impatient. Non-lucid dream control isn't enough for me anymore :P

However WILDS have to be the scariest things I ever tried. I'm not so scared of the hallucinations though, its the breathing part.

My question is when I get to that point where I can't voluntarily breath on my own is it safe to just ignore the suffocating feeling? By that time has my body taken over?

From past experience with wild I've learned that I'm dreaming in my dreambody but I'm not so sure about this. I don't want to wake up suffocating :oops:

From what I know, you get SP every time you fall asleep, but you're just unconscious. Since you probably get the 'suffocating' feeling then too, my bet is you're probably still breathing, but it just doesn't feel like it.

Don't take my word on it though.

Yeah just do your best to ignore that "suffocating" feeling. Remind yourself that your body is getting plenty of oxygen, you just aren't normally conscious while your body is breathing sooo slowly, so it seems unnatural...but it is very natural. Just remember to relax.

Yeah, this little problem throws me off every once in awhile, too.

Aquanina is right. Just ignore it and you'll be fine. If you focus on it too much, and it starts to make you even more uncomfortable to the point where you can't take it anymore, simply take a deep breath and relax again. Doing that shouldn't hurt your attempt much at all.

That night I never made it far enough to experience the suffocation :(

I kept jerking in violent ways and that pretty much woke me up. I tried again and got the same result. Any help?

The farthest I ever got in SP I suddenly lost control of my breathing then started forcing myself out of SP to breathe properly. Just gotta remind yourself that you're gonna be fine...though that can be difficult sometimes.
