A question about WILDing
I was just wondering about WILDing...
If you try the general WBTB technique, and say you have an LD for 2+ hours*, do you actually stay 'awake' during that wild or do you get proper sleep. EG, because you are concious, will you feel tired for 'loosing' 2 hours sleep later in the day, or will you feel refreshed as if you have just slept that normally. What im basically saying, is having a wild effectivley like normal sleeping, or does you being concious for that time mean you aren't getting sleep.
*I dont know if 2hrs is realistic. I havent really had a successful wild, but i keep trying :D

I do not feel any different (tired-wise) after having a WILD during the night. If you use WBTB and you are awake for 2 hours attempting it, then yeah, you will lose those two hours. While you are Lucid Dreaming you ARE asleep, so your body is in a phase of rest. The only sleep you will lose, is the time you are actually awake. Now, if you have multiple LDs that span over the entire night (like 4+ lucids in a night), then you may miss out on some of that deep sleep and feel much more tired, but one WILD attempt shouldn't hurt you at all.

If you have a lucid dream you could feel more tired because you want to go back asleep into another dream anyway.

Lucid dreaming counts as regular dreaming in terms of getting enough sleep. Like Yoshi said, you will obviously miss out on sleep if you stay up for a long WBTB.

Re:
Thanks guys. I was just wondering if you understand what i mean

I would guess that the rest you get isn't quite as substantial as you might get if you were not lucid, based purely on my own assumption that at least some part of your brain that wouldn't normally be active during sleep is active while lucid. From experience, however, I haven't noticed any difference in how refreshed/tired I feel after normal sleep compared to being lucid so I would say that if anything the difference is almost negligable.
I also question my original assumption only because I know that lucid dreaming is a very similar state of mind to hypnosis, and it seems as though most people emerge from hypnosis feeling more rested than if they had been asleep (or simply awake) during that time.

I am personally always exhausted after 1 hour+ lucids.

It IS proper sleep. It's no different from having a DILD except for that the ACCESS point is different.
