How long till succesful
Well I woke up at night like I did and finally find the will power to roll over my back to try for WILD, now I've tried when first going to bed and ended up waiting 20 minutes till I got into the vibration stage while this time, intense vibrations started within 4 seconds and got more intense till I was asleep 5 seconds later.
Is it normal to go straight into a dream that fast?

I tried to nap wild
2 session
1 was 25 the other was 30
for the 2nd one I felt Strong waves throughtout my body every 10 sec for like 2-3 times the other my hearing went down and back up.... and i expect something to happen but nothing, finally gave up, keep trying

On a related note...
What about an upper bound? That is, how long would/do you spend trying to WILD before just going back to sleep?
I've been trying WBTB+WILD for a few weeks now, and I generally give up after 2 hours or so(Not out of lack of devotion, just cutting my 'sleep losses').
- Should I keep trying until I need to get up for work?
- In that case, or in my existing 2hr average, am I losing enough sleep to this endeavor that it could be impeding further attempts?(Most of the tutorials seem to emphasize 'well-rested')
- Is there an upper bound/range to the length of a worthwhile attempt?
While I'm on the topic, for clarification:
- I always achieve complete body numbness from my toes to my teeth(within 5-15mins).
- While it is difficult to move in this state, it is always possible, so I don't suppose I've ever reached SP(though some say it might not be necessary)
- Similarly, I've never experienced vibrations or HI as many describe.
- I've been alternating through various mental techniques after clearing my mind, including: counting, passive visualization, active visualization, audio-assisted brainwave entrainment, suggestive self-hypnosis, etc...
Not to say that I don't enjoy these attempts; it's pretty much the most relaxing thing I've ever experienced. I'd just rather be dreaming. :D

I've been trying to WILD myself, I've had LD's from DILD's but never WILD's. I'm using WBTB and normally sleep from 10pm till 6am, I find 8 hours is just right for me. I suffer the same problem when I try to WILD, my body will go 'numb' throughout, and it'll only take 5 minutes to reach this point - but after that I don't seem to enter a dream.
I too have to be up early in the morning and don't like to loose my sleep, so I normally end up falling asleep (rather than staying up two hours). What I'd recommend you try, if you haven't already is:
- If you're getting up out of bed when you WBTB, and stay up for a set time, reduce that time.
- Make sure your room isn't too light, that could wake you up too much.
- Increase the time, if possible, that you sleep for.
If as soon as you wake up, your room's dark, you move as little as possible, and you're still tired enough; it should increase your chances of WILD'ing. Good luck with your WILD's, and keep on trying, it'll come in the end! J.
