"Onset Panic"
Last time I attempted a WILD, it was a near success I suppose you could say. I "woke" in my bed, checked my alarm clock to do an RC, and time changed. That part was ok, but what happened afterwords was strange. I got up, and all of the sudden was overcome with the horrible foreboding feeling, like I knew something was going to come and kill me... About a second or two later I woke up.
Why did this happen? I haven't had a successful WILD for a while now, partly out of fear of it becoming a nightmare much like above, partly out of bad luck.

Just relax, focus on stabilizing and realize that it's all just a dream, and nothings going to happen unless you want it to. I can't tell you why you had those thoughts in your head, but it's best to not let them impede your thinking.

Well... I'd suggest you to prepare for attack next time if you can't erase the bad feeling :P
Don't think, react. At least that helps me.
For example if you are in your room, open drawer or smth and KNOW there is gun.
Generally charging at scary being is better than running away/forcing yourself awake.
When I first heard about it, I had semi-nightmare same day. Remembered charging monster part and became lucid. Creepy fellow disappeared in front of me and I felt wonderful :)
Anyway I don't know about you, but I am way better with dealing creepy/dangerous situations than preventing them :D
EDIT: Don't be afraid of WILDing because of nightmares. Remember that you ALWAYS have way out if you need it. You can wake up on will if you can't handle the situation.

I guess the best way to deal with it is to confront your fear, if you can hold on to Lucidity, the fear might pass - or whatever your 'afraid' of may appear. If it does, you've just got to remind yourself it's only a dream, and you can control it.

I totally know what you're feeling . Its a thing that i usually call a breakthrough . It usually feels like you're about to switch from real world to dream world , like some kind of thing rushes your body and head . I usually try to make it happen but i had a different kind of experience once. For no reason i woke up in the middle of the night , not remembering a thing . Closed my eyes again and then a similiar thin occured but this time i didnt even wished it for . It felt like i was being forced to surrender . Of course i started to panic and shake my head . I was so dizzy and shocked that i was scared to close my eyes again.
