Hello everyone. I am not sure how I should start or where to start with WILDs. Could someone point me in the right direction or show me a good guide for WILDs?
The tutorial on WILDs in the tutorial section helped a bit, but I want some variety.
I have already had my first lucid dream, which was a DILD. So, would anyone be willing to help me on this?
Have you read all the tutorials listed at the bottom of this page?

All of those helped me when I first got into WILDs. BillyBob's guide was probably the most thorough IMO (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=30783)
Basically, just try a bunch of different things and see what works. I find WBTB (Wake-Back-To-Bed) to be a good place to start. Try and get a 5 or 6 hour night sleep, then wake up, walk around, stretch and then lie down and attempt to WILD!
Also, remember: WILDs can be tricky. It'll probably take a few tries before you actually get it!

I've tried WILDs twice, and I've only barely gotten into the SP stage; when you say that a "few" tries, how many times would you say it should take? I'm getting kind of discouraged :PQuote:

Like I said, try the WBTB technique. I think that one is best when you're still getting the hang of it.
I tried the WBTB thing, though i was so tired I shut off my alarm so I go to sleep and sure enough my mind automaticaly woke me up 5 hours after I fell asleep, I got up anyways and tried WILDing, with no results. How many times do you have to wake up after 5-6 hours of sleep?!?!
Here's a simple guide for WBTB:
You wanna make yourself wake up right before a REM cycle (when you dream). It's hard to figure out exactly when you slip into REM (it varies from person to person), but it generally falls between 4 - 6 hours after you fall asleep. So, you wanna wake up right before REM so your mind will be ready to LD as soon as you go back to sleep.
So, go to sleep, set your alarm to go off 6 hours later. When it finally goes off, wake up and walk around. Do some stretching, read a book, do anything to get your mind awake so you wont just fall right back asleep as soon as you hit the bed.
Then, get back in bed and lie down, stay really still and wait until you reach sleep paralysis, at which point you can start to dream/LD. While you're waiting, focus on your breathing and count like this:
"1 - I am dreaming, 2 - I am dreaming, 3 - I am dreaming ..." and so on.
It may take a few tries before you get it, but be persistent.
WILDs can be performed at other times too. When I wake up usually in the morning at around 7:30/8:00, I can usually do an exceptionally fast WILD by just turning over and trying it then. It takes less than no time to get into deep SP. And then I still have an hour or two of REM for an LD! That's how I got my two. ^_^
And afternoon naps are great! I dislike them though. Usually there's stuff going on downstairs like my sisters Disney channel that distracts me. but if you are alone and have time for a nap, a wild will work. But it takes longer than WBTB because you don't have any prior sleep. This usually frustrates me. So I always RC too soon. :?
@AngelOfLife: Haha! I know rite! I took an afternoon nap once b/c i was trying to WILD, and i kept hearing people talking, slamming doors, etc. =/ Same here. I'm like, "Hmm, I'm really numb, so I should probly RC." And I pinch my nose, and I'm not dreaming! soo frustrating.
Also, can I ask you what position you woke up in? Do you WILD on your stomach? back? I think that the position is sort of important. :D
Do you WILD in the middle of the night, sometimes? I wonder if you can do a WILD in the middle of the night, and the morning? :)
Also, can I ask you, what method did you use for your 2 WILDs?

Hi Sydney, its sounds like you have enough information on how to do a WILD, so I wouldnt really worry about that. From my experience WILDS are more about 'feel' than anything. At first everything is new and you have no idea what these new feelings are, but with time and regular practice you begin to recognize them and become more and more familiar with them. Then you will be able to recognize at what stage you are during the process.
As far as your question goes to Angeloflife, i cant speak for her obviously but in my experience, Iv been able to pull off WILDS from just about every laying position...so i wouldnt worry about that too much at first.
My best advice for you is practice. Simply that, practice. Not for 2 nights, not every night for a week. But every night for 2 months or more...thats how your going to learn how to WILD. Thats were I think a lot of people get hung up, they try for a little bit with no success then quit. You gotta be persistent with it...and thats not always easy because it could take a long time to learn, but it is completely possible with regular practice. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Thanks! I'm not sure if I should use some sort of method. (I use one that is like this: I breathe in, then breath out, then I count 1, and so on) But the problem is, it's keeping me awake for too long! I've gotten all the way up to 600! I'm not sure if I should lie still and wait for SP, because, I might fall asleep. I've never reached SP like this; because I usually do this anyways when I fall asleep..Well, do you have any suggestions jwest?
I use my own wild method. It's like a music-utilizing wild combined with the one where you formulate a body next to your bed.
My lucids were done slightly on their side. It is hard to explain this because it's like a mix b/t on my back and on my side. My head was tilted sideways toward the window. I think it's pretty easy to say you shouldn't wild on your back though; that could hinder your breathing pattern.
I know exactly what your talking about, multiple times it has taken me 90 minutes to fall into sleep paralysis, which is completely impractical and not even worth it. I myself am still perfecting a way into sleep paralysis. Lately though, my practice has been exclusively with MILD (for about the last month an a half), so I havnt been working on perfecting my SP method. But! I think what AngelofLife said here is extremely valid. Lucid dreaming yours and only yours. There are methods you can follow to guide you but everyone is different and different things work for different people. Thats why I say its more of a 'feel' because its what works for you. I would say any method you come across, use it as a guideline, not a word for word, by the book, this is the ONLY way it can be done attitude. Modify it, change it, combine it with something else. Use it as a starting point and comb it to fit You. And practice! Consistent practice will produce results.Quote:

Thanks for mentioning what I said earlier; Thats how I came up with my method. I read up on every new method and idea on WILDing I could, and I combined the ones I liked to make my own. It's not exactly a by-the-book type of thing. but maybe, if I finalize my method, I'll post a tutorial. :3
Angel, you should post it. :) I'm pretty sure it will help LOADS of lucid dreamers. ;)
Ha. I def will in the future. The thing is, no one will try it unless it comes from an experienced WILDer, and that I am not. Well, not exactly. I need at least 10 WILDs under my belt before I post a Tutorial. But I promise I will. I can make one up for you in a PM if you'd like. ;-)

Thanks jwest0215, your advice has been very helpful. I've tried to WILD three times now, and every time I've entered SP and become distracted by how weird it is haha. So I think with as much practice as you've recommended I can easily learn to WILD :) I'm a quick learner and seeing how on I entered SP on my first attempt I think I'm pretty well set :D I can't wait to start getting into a routine to where I can practice it every night!

Ya theres all theses tecniques available to people, but really i believe theres a two kinds of people attempting WILD the kind that cant get rid of thier consciouness and are always thinking about everything(me) and the people who can fall asleep easily(lots of people) youve just gotta find you medium of techniques to keep you conscious and to put you to sleep, my mistake was doing as much of what sources tell you to do as possible, too much of which sacrificed my precious comfort lvl, resulting in sessions of 2-4 hrs lying still while my sis and dad love to walk around the house and do all kinds of annoying stuff like talking and cooking things :roll: . I havent succeeded yet since starting soo long ago:panic:, but I do get wake paralyzed alot now that im chilled out :P
Sis and dad walking around... sounds like my house, only MY sister watches Disney channel 24/7 with the TV volume turned WAYY up. It's a good thing she goes to friends' houses so much. Sometimes I can WILD when she's not around. XD
